Somehow, for whatever reason unknown, it's in the recent years (5-10 years) that revelation or early knowledge about a baby's sex has become a thing. I don't know - to me it appears like a little craze that's supposed to fill cultural gaps. Superfluous information that is being celebrated because there is barely anything else to celebrate in life and on this hedonist course that the prosperous society is on. (Large part of this "gendered" (actually: sex-focussed thought filter) is marketing. - You know, wanting to sell everything in blue or pink. Through that implying the false assumption like there are two strict inexchangeable "ways to be".)
It's not too far off. I've been thinking about this circumstance too already. - Mass tourism has become a huge burden to the environment and even people themselves. The emissions alone, than the garbage people leave behind, and eventually the towns and places they flood to stomp through like a herd of elephants. I think, Venice was a good exmple for that
( ... )
I'm troubled by my own air travel, but I choose the selfish thing and do it anyway. Extended Family > emissions. I have my sights on moving back closer to them, but its delicate. I have enough privilege to live in poverty comfortably. ugh, complicated.
Given that everything we spend money on creates some amount of emissions in this global economy, it's probably not fair to single out air travel as The Big Bad.
