Exchanging Twitter for Instagram??

An old friend of mine announced today on Twitter that if he leaves Musk's social media service, his online peeps could find him on Instagram.  Which is owned by Facebook.  I fail to see the moral superiority of Facebook over Twitter.  People who didn't leave Twitter during all those years before it banned Trump, now suddenly want to express their ( Read more... )

Hm, there are several non-profit examples of what's called "social media" today, only they have a limited range and limited amounts of audiences (and the best about them surely would be that it stays that way somehow).
Dreamwidth goes that pathway, Mastodon (as a decentralized Twitter clone) can be regarded as that too - recently someone showed me https://spacehey.com/, which technically tries to be a MySpace clone, for people who just like to post a bit of stuff and just talk to other people, form little social circles, and be left alone from the loud noise of the big social media platforms (privacy and anonymity of the old internet included).

...Those are just the ones I know. There might be more out there.
