Love to an AI isn't new, a black main character isn't new (Anyone remembers Wesley Snipes as "Blade"? Or Laurence Fishburne as "Morpheus" in Matrix? Or a lot of roles that Samuel L. Jackson and Morgan Freeman ever played?), and women characters that aren't just for decoration aren't new either... (See the "final girl" role in horror movies, Jodie Foster and Sandra Bullock, Milla Jovovich did quite a chunk of kick-ass roles in her early career, never forget Glen Close or the recently deceased Angela Lansbury - there's quite a chunk of actresses to find who protrayed figures who were more than just passive, if one is willing to take a careful look.)

you're right, it is just marketing, repackaging old tropes as "Best Original!"
