NYC Pride is banning the NYPD -- and all other corrections & law enforcement organizations -- from participating in LGBT Pride events through 2025.  They will require all members of the NYPD to stay at least a block away from the Pride festivities.  They will not allow members of of any corrections & law enforcement organizations to march in the ( Read more... )

2 things on that:

1) If they show rejection against police forces being too near to them, how does the pride march still stay legal or how does it take care of its own security against intruders who don't like the march?
Every other movement that rejects the law enforcement is being stamped as "uncondistutional" and as "a criminal gang". What about this aspect?

and 2) Well, I'm already on the train "Fuck your rainbow flag! Fuck your brazen imperialist American culture!" for a longer time episode. For several reasons.
To me, they can go to hell with their rainbow flag. The United States didn't invent gayness, neither how gay people naturally like to express.
They've only created an artificial commercial culture around it and try to spread that to the rest of the world, regardless of peoples' individual feelings or their local cultural circumstances (because they think "that's how it has to be if you're gay or you're "strange").
No LBGTIA person needs their blessings in order to be real.

(1) They say they'll provide their own private security.

(2) I agree that Pride had already become more of a commercial thing than a liberation thing, especially in the big cities. More a trademark to be monetized like everything else.

Hm, "private security"... Like I wouldn't have guessed that.
There is to hope that they're aware in private security service firms can be fucked up people to find too which have a problem with LBGT people.
On another note: Private security isn't much better than your local bouncer outside the club - the only thing he/she's allowed to do is look evil and grim and get people to behave through the looks. One beating and it's taking law into one's own hands, which isn't legal. (Which makes you think, why does the self-righteous left then still feel "soooo much different" than the far right with its paramilitary self-trained groups for defending their marches which think they know how to make war?)

The whole "Pride" movement has become a commercialized bunch of shit that lives very far away from the people it officially wants to addess.
Nothing more than another closed club competing for political power.

LGBT cops need our support as much as anybody

I assume that there's nothing stopping them from being there out of uniform in plain clothes. Or leather gear. Or just a jockstrap.
