Murder on Middle Beach

One of my lowbrow interests is True Crime, I dunno why.  I'm not into horror fiction, I'm not into detective fiction, but True Crime stories fascinate me.  Some of the most interesting books I've read have been about serial killers, especially the gay serial killers.

A violence drive that culture makes into a taboo, so we get a thrill from watching "criminals" do it to "victims" from a safe distance? Even more thrilling if it's not fiction. It really happened.

I'd say it's rather the interest in the beast in humans. "How can people who could just possibly live next door to me do something like that?".
The more it's away from your own inner cosmos, the more it can be fascinating because a killer seemingly doesn't think very much like you (I say "seemingly" because it only appears to be so. To a certain extent, killers also have the same needs as every "normal" human being. - Certain forms of killing, those which are fuled by desperation about life, can even be committed by nearly every person if you push it tightly enough into a corner.).
