After all the weeks-long drama about avoiding a federal government shutdown back in the spring, and then the weeks-long federal debt ceiling drama over the summer, I was expecting another weeks-long drama over the new federal budget for the fiscal year starting October 1

Yup, the House has already passed it, there's nothing terribly out of the ordinary in it, and it lasts through 18 Nov. Strange to see them acting this way, but hey.
