Cell Phone Comparison in KC

Jul 01, 2007 22:45

Hello. I know this topic has been brought up before, but I was looking to see if there are any good sites that compare services and quality of plans for cell phones in the Kansas City area. People have asked before on advice on which plan is better. But now that the iPhone is out, I hope that companies will look to cut deals on existing services ( Read more... )

the iphone is crap.... its sold as one unit, which means if there's a battery problem, you need to replace the whole phone... there wont be any unlock codes provided for the iphone for the next 3 years, there is no dialpad- only a touch screen... and if it goes defective, there are no exchanges available for it- you'd have to send it in to apple for repairs...

the t-mobile wing is a much better device- its less expensive, more reliable, and does more or less the same things the iphone can do... but then again, Im somewhat biased lol

To pile on the iPhone a bit, the only carrier available for the iPhone is AT&T and you are stuck with a minimum $60 a month plan (for 2G service no less).

Anyway, I am also biased but have you consider Sprint's employee referall option (http://www.sprint.com/sero)? Let me know if you need my company email to login and see further details. The basic plan is only $30 a month but you are stuck with a 2 year contract.

See, if I'm going to be stuck with a 2 year contract, I'd just assume distance myself from Nextel as much as possible. I think the only way I'd go with Sprint right now is if I didn't have to be stuck with a contract - I've suffered long enough to pay for more pain.

Then Firetyger's offer to put you on their friends and family account may be worth considering. No contract, no credit checks, nearly all services unlimited, no roaming fees, just daytime minutes are limited to 500, all for $15 a month. I'd offer the same but I'm waiting for some of my family to tell me if they want to use my remaining slots. We are only allocated 20 each.

I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Cricket. Pretty much unlimited everything as long as you stay in their local service areas. If you have to roam into rural or non-covered areas, then it gets expensive.

I have had pretty good luck with Cricket. Stay away from their cheap phones though. (Though I guess I've never had much luck with ANY carrier's entry level phones.)

Going on what RolandCW said about the sero thing. I can get you in on one of the friend's and family plans. The plans are basically the same as the Sero but do not involve the contract. It will also get you a discount on the phones. If you want to explore that route, let me know.

I had Sprint for 7 years (former employee) but last December moved to T-Mobile. I am much happier now!
