When I moved downtown in 1997 it was a different world I tells ya. I did get to shop at the Jones Store for a few months but then it was just me and the Spaghetti Factory, John's, and The Phoenix. Oh so lonely. I move back to KC on Saturday and am happy to see downtown becoming liveable.

aannddd none of those things is even here anymore, I'm pretty sure. Spaghetti Factory for sure (I do remember eating there as a kid and I wish it WAS there)... the Phoenix was closed for a long time, but I feel like I just saw activity there within the past week. Not sure if it is the Phoenix, still, though. And John's is closed. They say it's temp but who really knows. Only been about 2 and a half weeks on that one.

I definitely miss the Spaghetti Factory. I was likewise surprised to see activity last night at the Phoenix, since it had been closed for several months. I hadn't heard John's was closed, that kind of sucks. At least Red Dragon is still there.

Matches Price Chopper with or without one of those damned cards?

ha ha good point. I wonder if those would work there since a good portion of Price Choppers are owned by the same guy. Would be nice!

sounds like they obviously know they have a monopoly on people. fancy shmancy indeed!! just go up highway nine about five miles and it will take you to price chopper, a block north to sams club, a few blocks north of THAT to Hy-Vee. do your big shopping there and then pick and choose at this one. IMO they don't need to make it so extravagant, people need food, people need to eat, people need convenience. they are totally milking on that factor.

by the way, see Milk. it's the best movie in years.

why wouldn't you just go to sunfresh down on southwest trafficway?

it's still about the same from downtown either way. i also thing sunfresh is overly priced.

true, i guess, depending on where downtown you're coming from. i live a block away from sunfresh though so it's convenient for me to just go there... or walmart on the way home from independence.
