Ukitake knows that the wait could be up to half an hour for the young man (with the same hair color as his own, that was something he might have paid more attention to were he more lucid) to arrive, so when Allen ends the feed, the shinigami manages to roll onto his back to allow breaths to come easier, occupying himself with the others that are expressing concern in the intervening time ( ... )

Even if the house he's walking towards didn't look like the one from the video messages, the sudden stabbing sensation in his left eye catches his attention and Allen staggers for a moment, though glancing up sharply towards where the sensation seems to be coming from. Nng, this was more than the aching it sometimes had in this place. Activating but not really. An akuma? Were they here now as well ( ... )

Aha, so that worked. If Ukitake had noticed that it had caused Allen pain, he likely would have felt guilty about it, but the boy had been too far away for him to tell, and when Allen kneels down beside him he allows his reiatsu to return to its normal level, dispersing the glow. He does it slowly, however; lowering a reiatsu as strong as his too much and too quickly would leave Allen winded ( ... )

Allen blinks hard a few times, dispersing the pain somewhat as the light around the person fades and he would normally be more than curious about that, but he is a bit distracted at the moment. However, with a final blink at Ukitake's reiatsu returns to normal, the mark of the curse recedes and his eye clicks back to a normal gray. Still a headache, but manageable.

As Ukitake tries to sit up, Allen automatically tries to help with a hand to the man's shoulder. A frown and empathetic concern; this person really does seem in a bad state. This is bad enough that they were all out of their homes... but to afflict the sick like this?

It makes Allen's sense of right and wrong flare quietly at the injustice.

"Okay," he says a bit quickly, then glances around quickly to take in their surroundings. Hisato, right; he had been there before and he remembers Ukitake already mentioned something about temporary housing.

..Temporary housing. This thing, whatever this was, whatever was happening... what was all this now? No matter, not right at ( ... )

For a few moments as Allen blinks, Ukitake wonders if he should ask if there's something wrong with his eye. Of course, he can see the change, but he doesn't know if that is normal for the young man or not, or whether Allen would actually want to talk about it. He remembers Katsuya making a joke about his white hair once, and how he'd been a bit sensitive about it, even though the other man hadn't meant any harm, so when the eye recedes back to gray and Allen says no more about it, the shinigami lets the matter drop.

He appreciates the support to his shoulder when he sits up, the thanks left unvoiced but the gratitude clear in his eyes.

Can he walk, that was the question of the hour. The last time he'd tried to stand, he'd managed it leaning on his zanpakutou, but a cough had been enough to topple him back over.

"Ah...I could try?" There's still that sheepish tinge in his smile.

"I...think I'll need some help to stand, though."
