[This has been a week of unrest, of immutable change for Raikou and for once he does not wake his partner as he rises out of their bed. And that in and of itself is one of the many changes, the sharing of a bed. Because it’s not like before where one would occasionally crawl into the bed of the other to seek out comfort and security, to hold fears and nightmares at bay. No, now it is to share comfort and strength, a place where bodies and hearts entwine and for the older samurai…it’s both welcome and overwhelming all the same ( ... )

[One thing Iruka pays attention to but not is the fact that back then, the air is quieter. The air doesn't cut and whistle back then, like the swinging of a sharp blade. it doesn't charge with energy. The leaves and grass does not sway the way it does now, with a presence that he had automatically smiled at ( ... )

[A small smile quirks the corner of Raikou's lips before he crosses the space between them. This time though, he makes a conscious effort to keep the distance between them respectable before he sinks down to kneel before the older man. And here again, he can see that glimmer of warmth in the way the man moves, the proper words and demeanor something that only enhances that.

And he can see, objectively, why he does find Iruka attractive. It's there, in the line of his jaw and curve of a high cheek, the way the scar adds a sharpness to the features. Appreciation of the bits and pieces, the surface that he sees.

(And yet you took that surface and played too cruel and too deep, didn't you? He didn't deserve it.The silence stretches between them for a long moment before Raikou finally shakes his head slightly ( ... )
