[One thing Iruka pays attention to but not is the fact that back then, the air is quieter. The air doesn't cut and whistle back then, like the swinging of a sharp blade. it doesn't charge with energy. The leaves and grass does not sway the way it does now, with a presence that he had automatically smiled at.

But also had automatically ignored.

Iruka's house is not alone in the entire row of empty houses, because next door, it is noisy and not as suffocating. There, people lived. Four young ones, foreigners, people he would look over the fence and say a greeting, wave a hand at on his way out or on his way in when Iruka had been living in this house. Iruka has chosen silence this time, because the memory of what had happened days ago, on the surface of a lake that had felt cold when it had been charged by the wrath of the man that Iruka has never wished to disappoint had given Iruka the most vicious warning, tugging at his mind, reminding him of the words that had been said; all this when Iruka had sensed Raikou's presence.

Practicing his sword.

Fear, uncertainty, the will to not make the same mistake -- Iruka does not know what it had been but he has chosen to keep quiet. Turn a blind eye.

(Focus on your house, and just your house; you are not here for anything else or wordlplays that might screw things over. How certain are you that you'll get away with the same mistake the second time? Pathetic.)

But Iruka is not rude. He is not cold. And he does not hold anything against Raikou.

(Really, it was your fault. You could have simply pushed him away. That's all.)

So Iruka smiles and beckons Raikou over with a hand, gesturing to the grass under the shade of the trees. ]

Raikou-san. Come in, come in, don't stand there like a fool. Have some some apricots. Shall I fetch you some tea? I just made some!

[Always the proper host, the good man, the good son, the good lover.]
