[ Five bodies are here. Soon, it will be six.

He has not removed them from the machines since a world ago -- since the first time he marched on Konoha. It was then that he took to the skies, leaving the bulk of himself lifeless on the forest floor. As soon as he raised his hands --

-- there was this. This expanse of ancient history. And since that time, there has always been this. And now, in the past, Nagato finds himself re-visiting his own past: his triumph over Konoha.

This time, he will see it flattened.

There was nothing that could stand against him the first time.

Now, Yukari and Madara are here, too.

Konoha is burning.

Like Amegakure burned many years before.

Konan is with him. Chitose is there

[ Does not seem very pleased. He isn't. His eyes are red and black and calculating as he looks, waits, lets his chakra unfurl and he feels it in the distance -- leaves, coming towards them. ]

They are foolish, if they think they can confront us and stand their ground.

[....Angst. Conflict Angst. Mention of how Itachi likes Pain and doesn't want him to die. ...Sasori too. Sasuke angst. Really worries about Kisa-chan because he's already gone ahead. MOAR Sasuke angst. HATE MADARA LIKE THE ETERNAL FIRES OF AMATERASU. Arrives with others.]

I apologize for being late, Leader-san. [gives Pain a look, seems remorseful. Pain hopefully not to oblivious and gets it.]

[Turns back to look at Konoha. Itachi is ready. He is always ready. Whatever guilt he feels is secondary to protecting what is most important to him.]

The time has come, it seems.

[A bit more angst. Itachi hopes Madara doesn't screw them over like a power drill.]

[Senjutsu.

The key to it has always been a simple thing and perhaps one of the hardest of all to maintain. Balance. Balance in the face of fear and anger and sorrow. Balance in spite of those things. And you must hold onto that balance, you must carry it with you wherever you go, as best you can. It is what Senjutsu demands. With balance comes increased awareness - so vast sometimes it begs for a personal disconnection- and though Naruto had not thought much on this once, he understands now that this awareness is more important than any punch he can throw with the augmented strength the skill gives him.

So he is aware of them long before he reaches the would-be battlefield. (Of them and of others, the ones whose absence is more intrinsically felt. Akira and Iruka and they’re deaddeaddead he knows, like Kakashi was dead once.) But these are not dead and they are not right, not in sync with his home, they are out of place. Their chakra is virulent, caustic, abrasive. They are unwanted here. They seek to harm more and Naruto moves
