[Deidara sees the movement and reacts, back to the head and then off of his bird, leaping back and falling even as the bird, now carrying Anko and her snakes, moves almost straight up. Distance is what he needs right now, and it's only a moment before he's on a second bird, putting horizontal distance between them as the bird carrying Anko simply forgets how to fly.

He'd set the bird she's on off, except he wants to play a bit more.]

[ No time to panic, Anko. No time at all. He made the bird gain altitude so you'd make a messier splat when you hit, but no problem. No panicking necessary.

She attempts to clamber aboard the bird, but no such luck--air currents and the bird's erratic motion make that impossible.

Plan B.

She shouts to Koga, the snake she left back on the rooftop, who's been following her, and Koga strikes at the bird falling out of the sky--

--catches it in her mouth, and Anko's snapped out away from the craft like a whip--

--ohgodohgodohgodohgod arm, elbow, shoulder, fuck fuck fuckfuckfuckshit--

--thrown clear, she somehow canceled her Striking Snake jutsu, and she hits a roof--

--and lies there, pain fogging her sight. Her arm is at least dislocated, if not broken. ]

[Deidara lands on the same roof, some distance away from her, his bird nearby in case he needs to make a quick escape. But he thinks she's weak, probably not even a jounin, and really, for all her talk on the journals, what kind of challenge is this?]

Aren't we pathetic, un. Done already?

[He sends a bird flying her way.]

[ A flash of movement and Anko instinctively rolls to the side, biting her lip and internally shrieking against the pain in her dislocated shoulder. She draws blood in the process. Koga strikes again, this time swallowing the bird.

It explodes in her guts, and Koga dies on the spot. Anko can't spare the time to regret it, because she's rolling, tucking her feet under her, and springing to the next roof, jumping down and taking refuge in the winding alleys, hopefully out of sight for another direct strike.

Next move. She snaps her shoulder back into place under cover of a low-hanging roof, bracing herself against a wall and screaming when it goes back in. It'll need serious treatment later, but she swallows a Soldier Pill to numb the pain and boost her chakra reserves.

Now, to plan where, when, and how to hit him next. ]
