Who: Kinomoto Touya and Elliot Nightray Status: Closed Style: Prose Where: Near the ryokan When: Afternoon, Week 30, Day 4 Rating: Possible PG-13 for language, at most? Warnings: Derpery!
For quite a while now (he's not sure exactly how long, because he loses track of time), Elliot has been playing the piano. But it's a very nice day, and he's stuck on the song he's been working on, so he's taking a break to have a stroll around the ryokan and see if inspiration will struck. And so, he just happens to run into this little scene.
Perhaps he's not a master, but even someone completely clueless he's sure would be able to tell Touya is a complete beginner at this thing. And if there's something he's pretty sure of, it's that you can't really get very good at it if you don't get any nudges from anyone. Plus, it's kind of a disgrace to see someone try these kind of things out and obviously not have much of a real idea how to; copying only gets you so far (because he can tell Touya is copying, from the way the movements aren't completely off).
Obviously, something must be done.
So he snorts, and marches over to Touya. "Your grip is off."
Touya hadn't expected to feel embarrassed. After all, it doesn't bother him in the least to be dancing around outside in his shorts doing something he's not particularly good at, in and of itself. Just anyone from around the ryokan seeing him wouldn't bother him at all.
But the fact that it's Elliot, and that Elliot catches him off guard, does make Touya blush and jump a little. He doesn't exactly try to hide the sword behind his back or anything, but he does look slightly guilty.
"I just thought I'd give it a try."
He says the words almost defensively, as if he has to explain why he bothered with the weapon in the first place.
...heh. That could almost be called cute. Except Elliot doesn't call things cute, but yes. He only gives an amused snort and a very slight smile for a moment, before he shakes his head and reaches over to adjust Touya's grip.
"Like this," he says simply, ignoring the defensive explanation entirely. It's just silly, really.
Everyone starts somewhere, and it doesn't hurt to pick up new things. Being able to fight here is definitely not a bad thing at all, either.
He's surprised not to be teased, honestly. In fact, it takes a second for him to recover from that, before he realizes that Elliot is doing. Right, adjusting his grip.
Touya turns his eyes to his hands, watches, trying to get the feel of what Elliot is doing, how he's telling him to hold the sword.
He'd almost had it right? Well, okay, not really. In fact, he'd been straining his wrist quite a bit, and didn't actually realize it until it wasn't happening anymore.
Oh.
Well.
He let out a soft laugh, then confessed. "I picked this type of sword because I thought I might ask you. A straight one, at least, that I thought might be used in the same style..."
It's very rare that Elliot teases anyone, especially when they're trying something and having some issues. Mostly, he teases when he is teased as revenge, whenever he gets over being angry, or if he doesn't get horribly angry. Whatever.
A moment like this isn't a moment where he would tease, not even in a friendly, gentle manner. He's just not that kind of person.
"I don't know if there's anything special to this," he says and shrugs as he pulls his hand back, with a snort. "But we can assume it works the same."
