Touya nods, gives the sword a small swing or two, careful not to direct it toward Elliot. The new grip does feel much better, but he's a little unsure...

He frowns, turns his head toward his friend.

"I don't feel very stable. I tried doing the same sort of stances I learned for unarmed martial arts, but it's not the same... I don't think it works the same."

He pushes the heel of one foot against the ground, as if frustratedly trying to make the ground move under him, fixing the situation that way rather than his own feet.

"You know what I mean?"

"No, it probably doesn't."

He wouldn't really know, but...

Shrugging, he unsheathes his own sword and takes a stance, holding the sword fairly loosely with one hand, feet not very far apart but planted firmly on the ground. A moment of adjusting, and he nudges his head in Touya's direction.

"This is one."

Touya spends a moment just looking at his friend, taking in the image of him standing so confidently with his weapon, as if he's had it in his hand since birth. It's strange to consider what sort of life Elliot has, given what Touya knows of his home world, his family, his situations. His death.

This young man is so different from himself, and Touya can't help but take a moment to watch him, before slowly moving his feet, his hands, trying to mirror the stance.

It feels more stable already, though he's a little unsure whether his knees are quite at the right angle.]

Elliot waits while Touya watches him, wonders a little about it but doesn't bother thinking too much. He doesn't move until Touya has tried copying it, lowers his sword as he turns to check.

He's never really taught anyone, but supposedly you learn a lot from teaching others, so this... should be interesting, if it ends up long-term.

After nudging a little at Touya's legs and feet, he nods. "Yeah."

"That certainly does make it easier."

Touya smiles, waits for Elliot to be out of the way, and then tries another little swing of the sword, just to check his balance, the way it feels now.

It's definitely better.

"So, show me something else. Like... a move or something."

He might be thinking of it a little like a video game, just maybe.
