[Lavi yelps and flails as he's pushed to the floor, but luckily doesn't hit his head or anything (not that he's not used to that). And as usual, he quickly pushes himself back up and rubs his head, pouting lightly.]

So mean.

[Ahem. Anyway.

Pause.]

Did you have that dream too?

[Kanda just gives a very, very Bitter Look from above.]

Tch. The one with feathers?

[He promptly puts off the existence of Raikou and Gau in there, as well. He just disapproves of dreaming such things very much - now if it was reality, it would be a little better, but still. Wait... maybe it was real in some wicked way, though? Because there is really no reason for him to dream of such ridiculous things.]

[And then he notices the sweater, still there, bright and hideous as ever.]

[And that's just about the moment when Lavi notices he dropped something.

And it's that charm Raikou gave him.

...

Ah.]

Yeah...

[He slowly reaches out to grab it, turning it over in his hand as he sits up properly.]

[Well, that's a relief. It means it wasn't in their power, or something. Then again it also means that the bastards had really managed to touch him, and that is just as enraging.]

[Kanda grumbles something quietly and glares at the piece of clothing; he's never going to admit he actually likes it a little. Plain white is the way to go, thank you.]

So what does this all mean.

[Something within Rin must've told her what was going on, for she wakes for no apparent reason, rubbing at her eyes, and instinctively she knows that the house is empty -- a sinking feeling in her stomach even as she sleepily wonders where the boys might have gone off to.

She reaches for her Hitomi and switches it on. The morning check of the network is almost a reflex by now.

And so that's how she sees this dream. She doesn't think much of it when she clicks to view the dream, still not quite awake and not so much with the waking up quickly today, it seems.

While watching it, she stills completely. A strange stiffness taking hold of her as she realizes just what is happening here, that the hunch that woke her up was just the right one. Sometimes she hates being right. But it's not a sharp pain suddenly jolting her awake, just a dull heaviness about her shoulders, her head, spreading out into her whole body, making movement seem strange and difficult and futile. After all, there's no one she'd have to move for anymore. No one who ( ... )

[She wipes a stray tear away before replying; voice quiet, solemn. And even if she isn't crying much, isn't all so very sad, she chooses to reply in voice only. It seems easier right now.]

They're gone, then?

[A pause as she mulls this over, licks her lips.]

Goodbye, Gau-kun. Raikou-san.

[There's another pause as she thinks of what else to say. When she finds there's nothing else she could say, she cuts the reply off.]

[Hope you didn't get too tired of him yesterday, righteous girl, because the response you get is, in fact, from this guy. He actually does look serious though, and simply leaves a message in return, cutting it off without waiting for a reply. It would seem that he is somewhat capable of feeling sympathetic, at times at least. His tone is even.]

So it seems. Left a pile of their junk, as well.

[WELL she'd be kind of disgruntled about yesterday, but the my best friends just left for freaking Heaven thing eclipses that quite thoroughly.

And wow, he doesn't sound like he's out to be contrary. For once.

It's a bit of shallow breathing before she replies.]

With you? Like what?

[As he's looking at the Hitomi this morning, this dream catches his eye. He watches, smiling slightly at first--Raikou and Gau interacting with two men he doesn't know. It's a nice scene, restful and easy.

But his smile fades as he keeps watching. And when it gets to the end...

Well. It's better this way, that they went without saying goodbye directly. But it leaves him with a lot to think about. They went to serve the Gods, huh...?]

[As he goes to set down the Hitomi, his fingers accidentally brush a few of the buttons, turning on the recording part of the device.]

...so that's it, huh.

[He leans back to lie on the ground, still within the frame of the video, barely.]

I hope you two know what you're doing. And good luck, wherever you are.

[Kanda does pay a little of attention when the device flickers on again, but he doesn't really know this guy. That, and it doesn't look like he's talking to him and Lavi at all. In which case, the broadcast is likely unintentional, and... well, there's no reason for him to treat it as anything but such.]

[So he doesn't say anything and simply ignores the device. Lavi is free to say something if he feels like it, though he doubts it.]

[Actually, Lavi's suddenly feeling genuinely social. Or perhaps the right way to say it would be; genuinely interested in knowing who knew Gau and Raikou. Or something like that.

He has seen the guy around, but they haven't really talked. Mmm...]

It recorded.

[Probably best to announce that.]

Knew 'em well?

[--what?]

[Gau is gone? That can't be. And... and everything was going so well for him and his man, too. Gilbert understands that everyone would like to leave regardless, but that was for people who wished to go back home. These two... why did they want to go, just like that? It's a shame. Gilbert tells himself he feels happy for them, but it's still a shame.]

[Because despite of working for the young man, he had almost come to think of him as a friend, as well, and there aren't so many people like that. So bright and honest, and, well... just themselves, maybe. He's going to miss them, and especially his boss.]

[And only then it dawns on him that, in fact, now the bakery is left without anyone in charge. Or, well, with him in charge, and it's a scary thought. He hasn't even seen Misa around for a couple of days, and it's... scary. WHATEVER IS HE SUPPOSED TO DO NOW?!]

[Calm down. Wait some more. Maybe everything is a big bad joke and they'll return soon.]

[Right.]

[The video starts out innocently enough. At first Lenalee doesn't understand the turn the dream has taken, but then it is impossible to ignore. And though Gau and Raikou are clearly at peace with their decision, she wants to cry out and tell them not to go. It's always painful to see friends go somewhere she can't follow, and this feels like death. No matter what the gods offer, isn't living always the right option?]

[Maybe not, for them. Lenalee doesn't want to understand it, and she doesn't want to accept it. But they seem so content.]

[And it's already over.]

... How much of that was real?

[She has an idea. But though Lenalee's eyes are already watering, she waits for confirmation, and wonders why they chose Lavi and Kanda of all people to say goodbye to. Perhaps they had gotten closer than she realized.]

[Oh, that is... a little unexpected. Kanda hadn't really thought that Lenalee had been close to those two, but she does sound sad. And, well, from the video, it looks like she's in her room. And yet she's using the device instead of coming down to see them, and that means she's not feeling well and doesn't want them (or him at least) to see it.]

[He sighs a bit, frowning lightly as he responds, rather quiet in tone.]

Hell if I know. It was a dream, but they don't seem to be around anymore.

[He briefly gives Lavi a questioning glance. If Lenalee's upset, they should maybe go to her, but he's not keen on invading privacy unless it's completely necessary, and... he's no good in reading moods. Is it now?]

Yeah, it seems pretty real.

[Especially with how the gifts he and Yu were given in the dream actually appeared physically in Kannagara. So... it's fairly hard to deny.

He gives Yu a very slight smile, and peers at Lenalee. One way to find out.]

Do you need anything?

[Company, tea, whatever.]

No, I... I'm alright.

[She attempts a smile, but Lenalee isn't sure how much longer video will be practical. She wasn't the closest, with Gau or Raikou. But memories come back, of the way Raikou took care of all of them when they were children, and of laughing with Gau, cradling his head in her lap. They were moments manufactured by other forces-- the gods, brownies. But that made them feel no less real, and both events had brought her closer to the two men.]

[Enough so that Lenalee feels herself beginning to tear up. She is hasty to finish the video.]

I'll be down soon.
