"Good to know," Ginko muttered, tilting his head back so he can look up at the dirty sky. He blinks as rain falls into his eye, but doesn't look down--it's still so strange, the clouds catching and reflecting the lively city lights dully, sullenly, seeming to disapprove of what they see below them ( ... )

Jason pauses, head cocking because he doesn't know. He doesn't know this man, but at the same time he just knows that his name is Ginko. He stops, his mouth twisting a little, and he shrugs, a bit of frustration slipping out.

"I don't know you. All. But...I just know your name is Ginko. I just know." He slips down, and sits down next to Ginko, still frowning. He breathes in deep and the scent of the the other man, of Ginko, curls around him, herbs and fuck, it just seems to damn familiar, and he wracks his brain, trying to remember, but it's like trying to recall a dream after you've woke. His head shakes a little, and then he's reaching out, fingers sliding through just a couple of locks of that strangely white hair, and Jason swears he can remember the feeling of those coarse strands against his fingers, clenched tight.

He stares, harder at the man and is reaching out again, this time going for the shock of hair covering one eye.

He almost leans back when the other man sits next to him and sniffs him, but the fingers of his supporting hand go over that edge, reminding him it's there, right behind him. "Well... it is. But that doesn't answer my..."

And Jason's hand is right there, brushing against his hair, and

-the brief flare of pain from a hard tug on his hair, before the fingers relax again, stroking instead-

he's too surprised to try moving away. Too surprised to speak, to do anything.

When the other man reaches out again, he makes himself move. Reaching up, he grabs that hand at the wrist, feeling the thick scaring beneath his fingers. "Jason..." The name slips out without his noticing, too worried about stopping... whatever this is.

Ginko, oh god this is Ginko and Jason just knows and just wants him. He feels his breath starting to come, hard and fast and heavy and its that scent now, that thick herbal scent and it shouldn't be erotic, but it is, it really fucking is and a shudder runs through Jason a hot tight thrill and it almost scares him how badly he suddenly wants this man.

But he shoves that aside, and just focuses on the raw, base feelings he has. "Yeah." He whispers breathily, "Yeah, I'm Jason." The fingers are still tight on his wrist, but he can imagine them pinning him, holding him down, and Jason's leaning in, his mouth heavy and wet on Ginko's, pulling back almost a soon as he starts, licking at his lips, savoring the taste of the other man.

"I want you. You don't want me." He mumbles half to himself, "But that can't be true, we wouldn't have fucked otherwise if you hadn't wanted me..."

Jason

(yes, that's his name how did I know that)

leans in, his mouth closing on Ginko's, and he freezes. It doesn't last long; it's barely more than a chaste kiss, only it isn't. There is no way that kiss had been anything but sexual.

Ignoring the words Jason mumbles out, he drops the man's wrist like it's a hot coal and surges to his feet, spinning so he can keep his eye on the other man, and backs away. "What the hell," he begins, then stops. A slow breath of air; he keeps his eye locked on Jason, even though he wishes he could close it, help him regain his mental balance.

"What is this? Who are you, and why... why do you seem so familiar...?" The last question is mumbled half to himself, and he frowns, eye narrowing. The more he thinks about it... something isn't right here. But he can't grasp it; the more he tries, the quicker it slips away from him.

Jason feels himself shaking and he doesn't know why, but that's not important now. All he knows is that Ginko is somehow important, in way that he can't quite quantify, in a way that he can't quite remember. But he's important, and Jason leaps up, stepping closer to Ginko, shaking his head.

"Calm down." he raises his hands, trying to be the calming one for once. "I don't know. I don't know, but I know you're important, and there's so few like that for me," only him and that's not a thought that Jason wants to dwell on. "So just don't...run off." He takes a couple of steps closer, his hands still spread out before him, as if he's trying to coax a wild animal back to him.

When Jason leaps up, Ginko takes a few more steps back, keeping the distance he's established between them. "I am calm." And he is, mostly. He just wants to figure out what's going on, who this person really is, and why... why this is happening. And until all that is laid out, clear and precise, he has no desire to get any closer to Jason, or leave himself open to... anything the younger man might try ( ... )

"NO!"

The raw, desperate sound just tears from Jason's throat, and he's not even thinking, just acting, leaping out into the night after this man, after Ginko. The cold wind tears at his hands, his face, and he's just reaching out, arm stretching out for that tumbling figure.

But it's too late. Jason knows that's knows it as the darkness swallows Ginko away, tears him away from him, and he's just screams, because now he knows, now he remembers it all, remembers Ginko, what he's done for him and-

[Jason lurches awake, shaking and sweating, surging out of bed, still screaming, grabbing the nearest thing he can find, hurling it against the wall.]

Alice watches as the cigarette lands near her boot, then steps over to stare down at the man. She places both hands on her hips after flicking long locks over her shoulder, and watches him curiously for all that his eyes are closed. There's something that pulls at the familiar, though she can't say why, but that's the reason she steps closer and crouches down, places her elbows on bare knees.

"That isn't a good place to sleep, you know."

Jason's eyes crack open and he glares up at the girl who's there. It was odd he hadn't heard her climb up, but that thought slides off in favor of the next.

"No it's not, not really. Not enough shelter, out in the rain too much. That's why I didn't plan on sleeping here." Robin's gone, and his heart aches a little, and there's that familiar curl of hot anger in his belly, but for once he shoves it aside.

She blinks, then settles down in the now vacated spot, both arms wrapped around her knees as she watches him. "Then why are you here?"

She glances around, at all of the bright lights that don't seem to penetrate the darkness and the clash of noise all around him, then wrinkles her nose.

"This is a very strange place, you know."

Jason cocks his head eyes sweeping around. "Strange? This is where I grew up. So, not strange to me. But....maybe if you're not used to I can see being confused."

"It's bright, and loud. I've never seen anything like it before."

She shrugs at that, because this is still a person that she really doesn't understand at all, then cants her head to the side and smiles. "But you didn't answer my question~"

"Why are you here talking to that kid, old man?"

"Why?" Jason sighs and rubs at his face. "Trying to help him out, actually. But...he would have nothing of it." He was silent for a moment, before adding on, "I've should have know better, really, but shit. Sometimes, there are those people you just can't...give up on."

Though that wasn't it, really.

Maybe he just wanted someone who wouldn't give up on him.

"There are?"

The thought gives her honest pause, because she'd never really thought of it. She doesn't remember if she'd had anyone like that when she'd been alive - either to protect or be protected by - but now...

Now there was Oz, and Elliot, and Gilbert... and maybe even Break.

Which is why she nods at that, then smiles up at him. "He's lucky then. It'd be better if he tried to help himself, but if he can't do that, it's good that he has you. Everyone should have someone to grab them and pull them to their feet from time to time!"
