Jason nods, and leaps up, light and easy, grabbing the bottom rung of the ladder, pulling himself up. He quickly makes his way up to the top, though he makes sure to glance behind him, checking on the man following him up.

Soon enough Jason climbing over the lip of the roof, and standing up, keeping close to the edge, ready to offer the other man a hand if he needs it.

Ginko follows him, jumping up nearly as nimbly, grabbing the rungs and pulling himself up easily. No more difficult than climbing a tree, and easier in many ways. Mostly that there are hand and footholds that he doesn't have to look for, and the whole thing stays still as he climbs.

He pulls himself up over the lip of the roof close behind the other guy, with a muted grunt of effort. He's barely breathing hard as he straightens up--not a bad exercise, really, and it's a good ward against the cold.

He looks out over the sprawling mass of the city, and lets out a low whistle. "Nice view."

Jason turns around, grinning a little, and holds out his arms. "Isn't it though? Everything looks better from the top. People are just an abstraction, it's crowds and not individuals, and you don't see the grime as much, just the noise, and the lights and the life."

It takes out a lot of the parts that he hates about his home, leaving only the good bits.

He eyes the man for and a wide, wide smile crosses his face. "Want an even better view?"

He chuckles quietly. "Well, people aren't so bad. But this... this is pretty nice."

He turns back to the man at the question, eyeing him a touch warily. What did he mean by that? "What, climb one of those really tall buildings? I don't see any ladders attached to the outside of those."

"Hah! Don't need ladders. This is the only way to do it." he moves in quick, curling an arm around the smaller man, holding him in close, firm, as he reaches for his grapple gun. "Better hold on tight." He says, already a little breathless, grinning. "I'm going to show you how to fly." He shoots his line out, and feels it catch, at the same time feeling the man's arms tighten around him, squeezing almost to the point of pain, and Jason just laughs, and jumps.

He's not sure why he's doing this. This man is just a stranger, and he's not sure why he feels so happy about it all, but he simply does. He feels like he's fulfilling a promise as the wind whips through his hair, the faint drizzle spiking past them, Gotham underneath them, glowing and throbbing with activity, life.

"What?!" His voice is startled, almost a yelp, as the man grabs hold of him, pulls him close... and jumps.

His arms tighten automatically around the other, this reckless idiot... some part of his mind that's still thinking realizes that they're not falling. He looks up, craning his neck a little, to see that the strange contraption this guy is holding has a line coming out of it. It's taut with their combined weight and goes away, out of Ginko's field of vision; so, was this how they were able to 'fly'?

He risks looking down, then, at the city spread out below them. It's actually pretty amazing, and if he wasn't currently flying through the air entirely dependent on the strength of another's arms, he might actually enjoy that view. As it is, all he can think is, If he drops me, I'll never speak to him again.

It makes no sense--if he fell from this height, he'd never have to worry about speaking to anyone ever again--but logic and reason seem to have been left behind on that rooftop, so he's not too worried about it.

It's definitely a bit of strain on his arm, taking the other man's weight, but it's nothing that Jason can't handle, and it's totally worth it, the city's beautiful for once, and he just feels good

They're hurtling toward another rooftop and Jason expertly disengages his grapple, landing with a slight stumble. There's a glimmer in his eyes, and the grin stretching for ear to ear. It felt amazing to do that, as if he hadn't done it in a while.

All of it feels like coming back to something sorely missed after a long absence, which is strange, because he's always here, but he blinks away the thought, turning to the other man. The grin doesn't abate, though he rests a hand on his shoulder and feels slight tremors.

"You okay?"

He has just enough forewarning that he manages to land more-or-less gracefully.

Well. He doesn't fall down, anyway, though that might have something to do with the fact he's still clutching at this guy's torso. Hell, he doesn't even know him (does he?) and they're already closer than he's been to anyone in a very long time. Physically, at least.

As the guy rests a hand on his shoulder he realizes that he is shaking a little. Not too surprising really--the suddenness of it all, he can practically taste the adrenaline in the back of his throat, not to mention that that was damn scary, period.

He huffs out and almost-laugh, though he doesn't even try for a smile. It probably wouldn't look anything close to 'right'. "You do that a lot?"

"God, its pretty much my job." Jason laughs, the sound edged with adrenaline, and his eyes are gleaming with it, but his hands and body are steady. It's a little strange because he does it all the time, but this entire night's been different and Jason chalks it up to the civvie clothes.

He's still grinning and his arms is still around the other man's shaking form. "You wanna go again?" His smile reaches something near incandescent.

Ginko looks up, about to say no, flat and final. But there's something... in the guy's face, in the way he asks the question, and he finds himself drawing a deep breath, stilling his shakes with an effort of will. "As long as you don't drop me... I guess the view's worth it."

He's not sure why he's agreeing to this, but he's doing it anyway. Insane, especially considering what he's agreeing to, but... well. Anyway. "You're sure that... thing you were using won't break?"

"Not a line like this. It could carry ten of us with strength to spare." Jason's grin doesn't decrease as he continues on. "It's the only way to see this city, the best way to see the city."

His arm tighten around the other man somehow protective, and he tells himself its just to make sure he has a good grip when he swings out again.

"Glad to hear it." His tone is dry, but very, very sincere. He swallows, tells himself he's perfectly safe, fails to believe it, and nods, once. It's definitely not the way to see the city he'd chosen, but... it is breathtaking.

In more ways than one, really. He's grateful for that strong arm wrapped around him, and tries to hold on just as tightly without clutching too much. He might not have much dignity to begin with, but he'd like to hang on to what little he has.

This time, he had prior warning, and knew what he was getting himself into. This time... this time he can actually enjoy the view (though his stomach isn't too happy about it). When Jason lands them again, he'll be grinning faintly.

Jason's still grinning that incandescent grin, especially when the other man's grinning, relaxing a little.

"I've...forgotten how much fun that could be." Jason says, a bit of a light, breathy laugh escaping from him. He can feel the other man against him, feel that he's no longer shaking and Jason feels inordinately pleased.

"So...since I seem to be your tour guide of Gotham...is there anything you want to see? Or want to know about?"

Ginko lets out a quiet snort. "Fun, huh." But he's still grinning, a little; in fact, if anything, the grin is just a touch wider now. "It was something, all right. Not sure I'd call it 'fun,' though."

He pulls away from the other man, moving to lean/sit cautiously against the low wall that runs around the top of this building. He doesn't look behind him at the drop; it's probably no worse than some cliffs he's been on, and if it is, it's nothing he wants to know about. But he wants to get his breath back before they go diving off the edge again. They'll have to eventually, he knows; there probably isn't any other way to get down to the ground, from here.

"Well... I'm new here, pretty much just arrived today. I don't know much about this place, so... anything you could tell me would be great."

Jason hops up next to Ginko on the wall, his booted feet sure on the narrow strip. "Well, for starters, don't go to that place we first met." The grin fades a little, seriousness taking its place. "That place will get you killed for the jacket on your back." He spat over the edge of the roof, shaking his head. "It's called, funnily enough, crime alley."

He snorts, and spins a little on his heels, feeling the bare air underneath the toes of his boots, nothing to support him. "Gotham is gilded. It's beautiful, glittering, and lovely on the outside, but rotten to the core. The rich are rich and the poor are desperate and either die in gutters or cannibalize others. That's why I like it up here, can't see either of them. Up here, Gotham can be the glittering metropolitan it so desperately pretends to be."

He snorts, a little. "Shit, that was unhelpful and mostly me babbling, sorry, Ginko." The name slipped, and it just felt right, even thought the other man hadn't told it to him.
