[Leo watches with narrowed eyes, trying to take in the situation he's seeing. It looked as though she was being interrogated for whatever reason. Something regarding this "Kira" she was being asked about. If nothing else, it seemed that there was more then meets the eye to this young woman. Not only was there suspicion hanging over her head, but also, it seemed that she had secrets she was willing to take to the grave.

While most things about this seemed negative in nature, at least she seemed very trustworthy. It showed that, at least in some circumstances, she had a strong will and determination.]

[He remembers this girl only as the one who had called herself "Misa", and had questioned Elliot on his 'stalker-like' tendencies. Now he was slightly more curious. What had this girl been through in her life?]

How can you say that for sure? That you were supposed to die.

[People who wished for death were of no consequence to him if they couldn't handle it. But to sound so sure of that...]

[Misa frowns at the video. At least with most people she can claim that the dream is nothing more than a nightmare, with some very vague basis on fact. But talking about this at all rubs her the wrong way. Light definitely wouldn't like it.]

Misa was attacked by a stalker once, and almost got killed. Misa only lived because Misa got lucky.

[That explains the conversation they'd had before and why she had been so adamant for the sake of his safety. It only figures that someone wouldn't want to see anyone go through a situation like that which might have been, in her eyes, potentially dangerous.]

I see. I should thank you for your concern earlier then.

[At the time it had seemed mostly humorous to him, but thinking back on it, he did owe her this much. In fact, it had been a rather well-meant warning. He wasn't used to seeing people show him concern like that. It was... strange, but... well... touching.

Though it had been some time ago, that was why he couldn't forget it, or her, so easily.]

[Matt knows enough about the way that murder notebook worked to be pretty damn sure he was supposed to die on the day he did. Mello argued it was some convoluted set-up, but Matt has never bought that. Why use your crazy supernatural killing paper when a bunch of guys with guns are going to take care of it for you?

He and Misa have more in common with each other, maybe, than with other people who were on the same side, but so much gets in the way when Matt tries to be nice to her, it's like he can't fucking help himself, he turns into this snark machine, and somehow he can be equally appalled at L's treatment of Misa and her willingness to die for someone who wasn't worth it.

At least he's not gonna try to make her see that.]

How d'you know when you were supposed to die?

[How did you live past it? is the other half of that, one he might not ever ask.]

... Misa was probably just talking about when a stalker attacked Misa. It was a weird dream.

[Stated somewhat halfheartedly. Misa still doesn't know exactly how Matt is connected to everything, or how he knows the things that he knows about the Kira case. But she won't be surprised if this dream makes more sense to him than she would have wanted.]

But you thought--

[Fuck, he doesn't know how to do this, feels like he has to sugarcoat things, when he never really learned how to.]

Look. I died when I was supposed to. My time was just up, and I know that. Our world doesn't work like other ones. It's... got more fate in it than I'd like. But you changed yours, somehow.

[Misa frowns, genuinely perplexed. She knows that everyone has a set lifespan-- she can see it, though reading it is beyond her. But with the power of the Death Note at her fingertips, she had never thought of lifespans as set in stone.]

Misa got lucky. [She pauses, before adding] the stalker was punished.

[It might be too much, but she doubts that Matt would buy just the first part. And the longer she is here, without Light, the less Misa finds herself caring about what she should or shouldn't say. This world is an endless prison and she no longer has the energy to act as she would at home.]
