[The Hitomi turns on, then off again. A few moments later the video finally picks up again. On it is the distinctively painted face of Mayuri Kurotsuchi. He's steadily gazing at the screen, almost as if he's looking beyond it and into the machinery of the device. Some might mistake that inspection as looking into themselves, dissecting their very

Aren't you a ray of fucking sunshine.

I have no need for pleasantries at this time. What I do need is to get back to Hueco Mundo. Time is of the essence! Or is that too difficult for you to understand? [Forget that manners thing.]

[Okay, Cal's pleasantry usually involves someone bleeding. He's a bastard and a half, and he knows it. He's just lucky he's better than a lot of people, so his violence gets justified. Most of the time.]
Yeah, and you're not getting back to...wherever. A lot of people are probably real happy about that right now, aren't they?
Reply
Hm. Perhaps they are. [He knows what he is and has no problem with it.] But then they'll realize they need my scientific expertise. I do not care if I am emotionally missed. I do know that they'll miss the wonders I create for them.

[There's a definite smirk on Alice's face as she flicks long locks over her shoulder and laughs all too brightly.]
But here! Since your ignorance is going to give me a headache, let Mistress Alice correct you! Your assistant did no such things, Horse-teeth. This place is called Kannagara and the supposed gods of this world are the ones that brought you here.

Well, Alice, [There is no way he's going to call you "Mistress". The gold eyes narrow dangerously.] I do thank you for what little information you've provided and strongly suggest that you keep your judgments of personal aesthetics to yourself.
What "gods" do you mean? [His world proved to have a lot of ideas people worshiped as gods but to no real avail. There is also the "god-king" of Soul Society but the god part was just a title. So the question is are these gods concepts or very high minded people? No matter. Either he could use to his advantage.]

I dunno what these gods are - they certainly don't exist in my world. But since I'm so generous, Mister Horse-teeth, I'll go ahead and warn you that if you lose your temper or try to kill things there, the flowers will force you to be calm again.
[A beat, as she nods sagely.]
Apparently that tree doesn't like angry people.
Reply
The flowers affect moods? Really? Do you have any proof of this?
[The wheels are turning in his mind.]
Have you first hand experience with it?

But he steels himself, expression blank and head bowed politely when he turns the video on.]
Kurotsuchi-taichou. I'm afraid your arrival here is no fault of your vice-captain's. This seems to be another world entirely, one of many. I have been told it is overseen by Shinto gods but have seen no proof of that yet, though I myself have not been here long. As yet I have found no way to exit this world.

Do not try to defend Nemu's idiocy. [Because somehow she is to blame, at least partially.] What else have you gathered about this place? "Kannagara", as I've been told it's called. And so it's the "Shinto" gods to blame? Really. [The gears are turning in his mind.] How is it that this different world has the same Shinto gods as the world of the living?

Another world you say. Please, describe it. And how exactly did you get moved from the Karkura construct to this other world, to this one? Be precise as you can. Your travels may hold vital information. [He's not holding out much hope, the third squad lieutenant never proved to be much of a keen observer of humanity - so to speak.]
[He doesn't respond to the "compliment" as it isn't one. It's a statement of fact; of course he'll find a way out. It may take him some time but he will find it.]
The people here are quite small minded it seems. As you have the advantage of an earlier arrival tell me, where might I procure equipment and a space to set up such a laboratory? I'll need it to make any progress towards a way out.

Suffice it to say Raikou was not impressed.
Even so, that didn't mean this man was actually anything like the other - and he had mentioned a few key words that he recognized.]
Excuse me, Kurotsuchi-san? But did you know Ukitake-san, Abarai-san, or Kuchiki-san by chance?
Reply
I am quite familiar with them. I take it that they were all here at some point as well. Which brings up an interesting quandary of how they were in two places at once.
Do you have some sort of hypothesis of how this can be true? [He himself has come up with at least three. But it's always good to hear the general theories of this world's populace.]

[Hmm. Still measuring the painted man here, honestly. Still, give a little common or easily inferred information to help that task of understanding along? He can do that. Quite easily, in point of fact.]
Actually, I do.

An eyebrow raises.]
Do you care to share them?
Reply
[So his response is short, and, frankly, a little unfriendly.]
You can't get back. That and you're in no position to demand anything.
Reply
[Dangerously]I hardly think I'm demanding.[He has ways of dealing with those who disobey and talk back.] I simply wish to get back to my own lab and world. [That isn't unreasonable at all.]
Reply
Like I said, that's impossible. Deal with it.
Reply
Impossible you say? I think you give up too easily. Maybe your small mind cannot conceive of a way to leave this place. I however shall find a way to exit this world and return to my own.
