[ Countless times Gokudera has wondered how it happened. How the order was given. Had Byakuran smiled? Had he laughed? Joked? Gokudera had imagined, played the imagined scene countless times in his mind while pouring acid down his throat in form of more and more alcohol.
He had wondered...
Now he knows. And it makes him nauseated.
In fact, it makes him throw up the moment he wakes up, stomach emptying without a question asked. Inside that head... Just for a moment, it was him who gave the order, him who sat with the green haired lizard, him who--

[ But however sick he feels, he won't let an opportunity like this slither away. Byakuran will be a constant threat in Kannagara. There has to be a way to control the damages, Gokudera intends to find out just how to do that.
Few hours, five cigarettes and a pot of coffee later, he opens his hitomi again, tapping away private settings and choosing audio function, and then thinking better of it, switching to video, because he hopes Byakuran will do the same.
Playing with fire? Sometimes you don't gain anything if you don't put yourself on the line.
He looks horrible, hair pulled back to a small ponytail, glasses shadowing already black rings around his eyes, there's a strange looking cigarette burning at the corner of his mouth, crafted from brown paper and stuck to the end of a cigarette holder.
[video|private]soreloserchanJanuary 19 2011, 13:51:19 UTC
[He scrutinizes Gokudera's appearance silently, through narrowed eyes and his mouth pulled tightly into a thin line. He has no doubt that Gokudera is probably seething - probably has been for hours, thinking of ways to tear Byakuran apart until there's nothing left.
He snorts. ]
You look like shit.
[and then:]
Everything comes with a price, Gokudera-kun.
[There's no sing-song in his voice as he responds. He sighs and shifts, wincing as he does so. His ribs and stomach are still tender from his fight with Reborn, but at the very least seem to be healing fairly quick.]
The offer still stands. Besides;
[his voice takes on a sarcastic note, a tiny wry smirk on his face.]
It's not like I can touch Tsunayoshi-kun at present, is it~?
[ But Gokudera wouldn't love anything as much as making sure that Byakuran couldn't touch Tsuna ever again. However, admitting to that desire wouldn't really change anything right now, only cause more animosity.
He'd love to answer the taunt, he'd love to rip Byakuran open with bare hands if he could.
If it wouldn't be such a pointless effort. ]
Thanks for that useless bit of life wisdom, Byakuran.
I'm not backing down from the deal, not even if you're a total asshole and I'd rather not have anything to do with you. [ Direct? Too honest? Hardly, Byakuran already knew what Gokudera thinks of him, right? ]

[ Well this.
This explains a lot. This explains that feeling, that cold, shivery feeling. The one like bells resounding inside of his mind when he stood just a foot away from Byakuran and his vivific smile and crescented eyes. It's a little like the feeling you get when you're standing on the edge of somewhere very high, looking down upon the world below, considering just how little there is to hold you back from a fall. A feeling like adrenaline in your blood and fear on your tongue and an uncertainty and feeling of caution, of danger, red and hot and a step away from the edge. Step away or you'll fall and there'll be no one to catch you this time -- yes that. That's the feeling, the rush right there.
Peter's frowning as he contemplates what it was he just saw. Byakuran, some kind of mastermind criminal, planning the assassination of a man he respects.

[There is a moment, when the dream ends (and he skips over the wondering why he bothered to watch it in the first place), in which Chikusa reflects on its events.
He knows these people. He is not one of the others from another world, sitting back and watching Byakuran coldly order the death of another man. He's knows what this is. For some of it, in the bigger picture, he was even there.
But, still. He doesn't care. Tsunayoshi is nothing to him, and neither is Byakuran. He is, and always will be, outside of the politics of all these famiglias.
[It's not the first time he's been told this. People rarely see the bigger picture for his actions, but even he can't deny that under it all; yes, he's childish. Yes, killing Tsunayoshi was petty and not entirely necessary.
For a moment however, he'd felt better. Like after you push someone who's broken your favourite toy.]
Maybe~.
[Chikusa is not like Mukuro at all, yet he's loyal. Everything about him is unreadable save for his hatred for Mafia. Byakuran has always thought the entirety of Mukuro's group of comrades were somewhat ironic; after all, their precious Master had never really cut all ties, had he?
But this isn't about Mukuro or how Byakuran finds him utterly ridiculous.
Byakuran smirks, says:]
Tsunayoshi-kun started it though~.
[Deliberately childish. Byakuran has never claimed to be a mature adult, after all.]

[There are days when Fran sits and thinks. And when he thinks, he always keeps his thoughts to himself. No one needed to know how his mind works, that would take away all the fun. And in all the time he's had to sit and think next to the rivers and trees of Amesato, all the times he sat on his balcony at night and stared into the starry sky outside the Varia manor... ]
Byakuran-san. Thinking too much does a lot, you know? But most of the time, it does nothing at all.
[ One of the things Fran's always thought about, just where does the line between good and evil lie? Good guys and bad guys. If someone were to ask certain people, then Master was evil. If one were to ask the police or 'good upstanding citizens', then the mafia was evil. And if one were to ask the Vongola and their allies, then Byakuran and Millefiore were evil. Xanxus wanted Sawada Tsunayoshi dead so he could take over the Vongola. Master wanted Sawada Tsunayoshi's body so he could take over the world and send it into Chaos. [Fran says, "Thinking too much does a lot, you know? But most of the time, it does nothing at all," and Byakuran has a moment where he thinks he agrees. Fran's is a familar face; the face of the person who fooled Vindice, who delayed him by a few hours at most. He'd been irritated then - well, he'd been irritated by a lot of things back then. The day he lost his temper; he thinks he might call it that, rather than the day Byakuran lost to a childSo Fran says thinking doesn't do much at all and Byakuran is well and set to agree. Thinking over things too much has always put him in odd moods; overly excited, overly annoyed - there's no middle ground when you think too much. Byakuran tilts his head at the message and ponders saying something

[ Fran sees the difference there, no matter how slight it may be. He's almost mildly surprised to get such an honest answer from this man, he didn't take him for the honest type. But then, a lot of people don't take Fran for the observant type or the type to be able to read people. But that's just the thing. Fran likes reading people. Because if he can read people, then he can learn how to make it so people can't read him. That's how he made his mask, and how he makes sure no one can get through it without his permission. ]
Actually. I think his was more of an aquamarine color myself. So kinda similar, but not really.
[ Does hair color really matter? Maybe it does actually. Byakuran doesn't seem the type to say things out of place, things that don't really make much sense at all despite what a lot of people are lead to believe. That little comparison to Byakuran's right hand... Fran thinks he might just be getting somewhere with this. ]I can be when I feel like it. [The truth is this: Byakuran rarely lies. He deceives, he manipulates but he rarely every truly lies. There's a nice brutality in truth that he likes, but he knows a lie can do just as much damage. He is not an honest person, even he himself will attest to that; but he thinks honesty comes in shades of grey.]
Kikyou-kun was observant too. He didn't just see me the way other people saw me~.
[It's true; the other Wreaths saw him in a single contrasting to view to everyone else. Boss, saviour, God; Kikyou knew when to see him as a man, when to see him as a God and went to see him as someone who needed something. Shouchi - well. Shouichi had always been idealistic.
It's a surprise, that Fran gets it. Maybe it's a relief too
