And he's just quiet for a while, just blinking with a bit of an odd expression, before snapping out of it and excusing himself with a smile and slight wave from the worksite he'd been at so he can reply.

I can only tell you about akuma from my world... but I haven't seen any since that week. As far as I know there also isn't any way to destroy them unless you wield a particular weapon that's also just from my world or are like them... Anyone seeing one should run and try to contact one of the Exorcists.
