[ The Hitomi shows a light gray sky. Tiny flurries of snow fall like itinerant flecks of dust, too small to actually accumulate. The video shifts to show Lelouch's face. He is watching the snow

[Raikou was juuust about to send Lelouch a quick message for his birthday when he heard Yoite's response. A response that was incorrect. So after making a slight face, he smiles gently and flicks on the video.]
Yoite-kun. Don't lie...our birthday was back in August, on the 20th. Just because I was made to forget for a time doesn't mean you should have.
[A pause and a nod before he shifts his attention.]
And to you, Lelouch-kun, I hope you're having a good day for your birthday.
[This was more difficult than he thought if he had stumbled into a place where such claims were made. Perhaps this was more serious than he first thought. Where was Crawford in all of this? He needed his boss to really know where he was going in the secular sense, and without a church to go to, he didn't really know where to begin, spiritually. He'd sort this out eventually, surely, but this whole thing is confusing.]
[Though...he understands well that lonely, seemingly saddened expression. Dates of remembrance like this were always a sad and introspective affair for him.]
[ Someone new? Lelouch has been so busy trying to nail down new, permanent lodgings that he may have missed him on the network. He gives the older (and scarred) man an encouraging smile. ]
You must have arrived recently, yes? My name is Lelouch Lamperouge - it's a pleasure. I've been here for... [ oh dear god, how long has it been now? Including the time he spent before? ] ...nearly three months. Or the better part of a year. Time passes strangely here, if you haven't noticed yet.
This place, Kannagara, functions as a sort of crossroads between realities. A nexus, if you will. People come here from worlds with different histories, or dominant species, or physical laws. It's difficult to accept - I had a hard time with it myself, in the beginning.
[He takes in the other man's appearance, studying him carefully. His eye flicks over the hitomi screen, trying to take in as much of him as he can. The comment about months is confusing, but he supposes that an explanation will be forthcoming if he's blunt.]
I've only been here today. [Not long enough to know about time, he supposes. He'll see it eventually if it's a serious issue.]
It's hard to get settled. [He's been told to go to Yomisato, but if they care for money...he has none.]
[no idea where but Break got his hands on something resembling confetti and he's sprinkling it around the Hitomi with flamboyant gestures. Yes Lelouch you aren't the only one]
Re: [Video]redeyeslasherDecember 7 2010, 10:24:33 UTC
[he's just being a clown but it seems Lelouch appreciated it. A different reaction from usual. The people he knew would either jump back or wonder what the hell was wrong with Break. The answer to that would be long and most don't have the mental strength to listen to the whole thing]
Had I known in advance I would have sent a cake your way right now.
[he's quite serious. When it comes to sweets and deserts Break is ALWAYS serious]
... well, he can smile for that. even if that's wrong. yeah. he can play "suzaku" for a day. it's just letting "zero" slip away for a while, letting the "knight of zero" shut the hell up, and forcing both the "knight of seven" and "princess euphemia's knight" into a very dark place. all are identities he more or less doesn't need anymore. without nunnally, "zero" has no merit, no worth.
and so,] Hey, Lelouch -- happy birthday. [smiling a little, then.] Have you done anything, yet?

[ It's only now that Lelouch has realized it's been a pretty long time since he's spoken to Suzaku. Since... Since that thing he's not thinking about. Maybe it never happened. Maybe it was all just a sick fever dream, the whole week. C.C.'s gone. Kallen's gone. Not even Rolo remains, the one upshot. Maybe Lelouch imagined the whole nightmarish thing. Maybe. Probably not

[holy shit --
-- holy shit he feels like bursting into the same explosion of tears that he had after he stabbed lelouch, because this hurts. wow. he didn't think it would. he didn't think ... but, but, but it's okay.
he's not going to cry in front of lelouch, doesn't want lelouch to have that on his shoulders, too. he's not c.c. he won't burden lelouch. he can't. that's not knightly, not something a friend does (last time he checked at least), and it's only something for people who impose on others.
... so, he won't cry. could, but won't. the urge is powerful, though. he doesn't want to think -- suzaku doesn't want to have to think about lelouch, and associate him with the man he himself carried out, prying his clothes from nunnally's small hands so he can carry the dead body away, but knowing that nunnally doesn't want to let go. as if it were any easier for suzaku.]

Ah ... Yoite, huh? That's good, then. [at least someone has their shit together, god.] I'm just --
[choked up. confused. this isn't a dream he's woken up from, with schneizel holding his hand and nunnally giving him that look that he didn't need, didn't want. he doesn't want her sympathy. sure enough, she's going through something that could be said is the same thing, but it's not. she's not the one who was holding the sword, who went through with zero requiem despite the protests that arose, how much he truly disagreed with it. because if it's what lelouch wanted, then he had to do it. he couldn't betray lelouch again.
he shouldn't be able to do this. he shouldn't be able to speak to lelouch, let alone wish him well. how could he do that to him ...? he really is just becoming someone, something, despicable.
while he's on the verge of tears, or not, he won't worry. this is a day for lelouch, and no one else.] Yeah. I'm glad you're alive, too. You should celebrate to the fullest, if Yoite really is planning something

Happy birthday, Lelouch-san.
[He then hesitates]
...I don't really know how you celebrate someone's birthday...but... do you want a gift, Lelouch-san?
Reply
I appreciate the thought, but a gift isn't necessary.
[ Pause. He doesn't know how to... ? ]
Yoite... didn't you ever celebrate your own birthday?
Reply
Ah...no. I...I don't really have a birthday, Lelouch-san.
[And mentally he makes a note to get Lelouch a gift anyway.]
