Tell me, are you bird or boy? [Congratulations, you have his attention now.]

I've been working on a solution to this problem. I cannot stop the Hitomi - yet - but I believe I've come across a way to at least make the dreams controllable.

[Insert uneasy pause here.] And what do you want for it?

[He'll do it if he has to, he needs this. He needs to keep these dreams to himself.]

Simply that you answer a few questions after you've taken it. Possibly a small blood sample. I had not originally devised the solution for bird physiology and would like to run a test or two beforehand. I need to make sure the chemistry is completely compatible.

Then your problem is bigger than just my bird body. I change shape on a regular basis -- unless you seriously think I can talk with a beak. [He thinks you might. You seem a little bit like an idiot. A very smart idiot.]

There are those that shapeshift and are able to communicate through human speech in my world. [Imply what you want but know that you are very wrong. In the end though, he very much doesn't care what you think.] You spend a majority of your time as a bird. Your dream provided that much information. [Did he emphasize the "dream" part purposely? Of course he did.] It's in the metabolism that something may go awry. And birds, carnivorous or not, have a different digestive system than an omnivorous mammal.

[fdslkjjfdslkjnfds do you feel that? That's the feeling of Tobias thinking screw you very hard in your general direction. And glaring. At the Hitomi.] I'm not from your world, you've made that much clear. [Thank god.]

Fine. Where are you? When my head stops hurting I'll come by. [Oh, look. He sees the spider's web... but he's heading straight for it, anyway. The bait is simply too much to resist.]

[Th power of hate does nothing to Mayuri. He's developed an immunity to it.]

It doesn't mean that you might not be similar to those of my world. There seem to be many curious analogues here. [The Mushi versus the Hollows of his world come to mind. And that the demons here are suspiciously similar to stories from the living world of his home.]

You can find me in Yomisoto. [Insert specific coordinates here.] I await your arrival.

[An after thought.]

There is a seller that may be able to provide you with pain medications. He's a nomad though so I'm uncertain as to his location. All of his concoctions are plant derived so are most likely safe for your system. [And as Mayuri has a sample of all of them, he doesn't have a problem with the possibly abnormal levels that might occur. He can account for those.]

I've been through a lot worse than this without so much as an aspirin. I'll manage. And I'll come by soon. Just don't expect much of a show -- changing back and forth is exhausting. [Pouting, slightly, in annoyance at his own limitations.]

Oh, not at all. I imagine such a process could be very tiring. [To be honest he hadn't expected to see the boy change at all. But he'll be quite happy to collect what data he can on this.]

It's fairly simple to do, it's not like I have to know everything about the animal I'm turning into. But it can wear you down, especially when you've been fighting between morphs, or running. [Or flying, high, against a wind, as fast as you can, because if you don't get there in time, they'll have no warning. They'll be exterminated like so many pigs, and it'll be all your fault. They'll die crying out for Tobias, for the hawk that led them to freedom. That they name their children after. Have a long silence at the end of the message while Tobias thinks about all these things, before finally remembering to end the recording and send it.]
