Because I have weird thoughts...

Apr 23, 2009 11:58

Remember on a post last week(ish) how I said I think weird, random thoughts and normally I just keep those to myself? Well, here is another. I was just curious about this and decided I'd poll you guys! :) As I was putting in my contacts this morning I wondered how many of you wear contacts and/or glasses. Also, what kind do you use, how long do you ( Read more... )

Well, my current point of view is that if I need to correct my vision one day I´d wear glasses. Putting on contacts sort of gives me the creeps... the pure thought of it actually... I know that it´s no big deal and somehow I think I could handle it just fine... but still it gives me the creeps.
Anyway... I´m quite sure that my point of view could change easily if I´d really had to wear glasses.... but we´ll see then.

Well first I have to say LUCKY YOU for having good vision! :)

Lol yeah at first I wasn't sure I could do the whole contacts thing, that same thought of sticking a finger in my eye creeped me out...but I was already hating glasses so I thought I would just have to suck it up. Really its not that bad once you've done it a few times, but I know my youngest sister prefers glasses and will never wear contacts unless they are speciality ones.

I think you would look really good in glasses! You could rock em! :)

I think I could at least be alright with glasses. ;-)

Yep normally I just get mine from the eye doc but the way our insurance is I get one or the other. I was looking at that visiondirect the other day, good to know someone else used them!

Haha yeah I don't think I'd wear my glasses out either, unless it was to the store or something. Wow, I'm surprised they did that so young, but I guess that's nothing new to them, especially if you didn't wear your glasses! :)

I wonder if they would say to not get it done if you are planning on having kids. Hmmm, if you do get it done, yep you'll have to let me know!

I wear reading glasses but I'm due for a checkup and suspect I'll be needing glasses all the time soon. My eyes tend to be pretty sensitive and I don't think I'd get contacts.

Also I'm cheap!

Oh, I bet it has something to do with all those little bitty stitches on projects! :) Just kidding!

Yep I can relate to the sensitive eyes thing. Sometimes I swear my eyes just hate me so I usually won't wear my contacts on the weekend unless I actually have to go somewhere.

Good luck with the eye exam! But even if you do end up with full time glasses I'm sure you will find the perfect pair. And if not, well its only a bedazzler away from being perfect, right? :P

Staring at stuff for hours on end has definitely had an effect! My dad was about my age, maybe a little older, when he had to switch to regular glasses. It'll happen sooner or later, I just don't want to give up my fabulous giant sunglasses that I love, but if I have to go full time, I guess I'll get over it!

Since I've only ever had the same type I wondered how other brands stacked up. I like the Oasys, but if there's another out there that lasts longer...sign up me up! I'll have to check into those kind, see if I can get a trial pair or something to see if I like them.

I notice the same thing about my contacts at night! If my eyes get all itchy or something I just want to close my eyes and go to sleep. Hence why I want glasses, and so I can still actually see the tv well when I take my contacts out at night.

Eek! Yeah horror stories about that surgery scare me horribly. (haha which is the intention of a horror story yes?) I was talking to my Mom about this when we were down visiting, and we both agreed we'd be in the percentage that was worse or that had problems. I think until they can make it like super, duper, no fail guarantee...then I'm too chicken to chance it!

lol, yeah, the Proclears were great about being able to last a long time, but just remember - your eyes change quite easily! Eye doctors usually recommend getting your eyes checked once every 6 months, but once a year is doable as well, particularly since that's all most insurance companies cover. Usually after 6 months, it's usually just a small change anyways, so there's no point in going that often... but that's why contacts tend to be sold in six month supplies ( ... )

Lol its ok! When I went last year the eye doc said my eyes looked really good, that he could tell I was taking care of them so that was a relief. One of my friends keeps telling me the same things about good contact care ( ... )

Oh God, the longest option you have is 6-8 weeks? haha I wear a pair for 1 - 1 1/2 years, until they literally fall apart. I'm pretty sure my eyes hate me. God, I used to a) sleep with my glasses on! haha When I was a kid, I hated not being able to see so I'd leave them on... how weird! Clearly they bent! and b) I also used to SLEEP with my contacts in because I didn't know you had to take them out! haha Don't know how I did that either because if I even take a nap in them now I can't stand the feeling once I wake up.

With glasses, after a few months you learn to block out the sides and it doesn't bother you anymore. But I hate glasses in the rain/fog/heat/when you sweat... they are SUCH a pain!

1) Where do you buy your contacts (or glasses), do you order online or from your vision person?I used to get my glasses from Vogue Optical (I think it's a Canadian store) when I was younger, then in the 9th grade I got contacts so I didn't get another paid of glasses until 2 years ago because I always used my Dad's insurance to get contacts ( ... )

Lol, well for contacts that's a long time! But I'm thinking if I get a pair of glasses, then I'd wear those for YEARS because I'd just use my insurance for new contacts and I wouldn't wear them that much anyways. :) Lol you would sleep with your glasses on?! Haha that (sadly) sounds like something you would do. :P Same with the contacts though, they feel so dry and gritty if I accidentally sleep or nap in them ( ... )
