There isn't one. There are spirits, kami, which inhabit things. Some are good and some are evil. It's different than what you Westerners believe.

It doesn't matter that you are not religious. It's everywhere in the West, you're just too used to it to see. Not that I care. To me it doesn't matter either way.

And it is good that you be scared of Akuma. Their maker is trying to devise the destruction of mankind. The Order says that this also has to do with the Western God.
