FF13: Complete!

Finished FF13 tonight, after a very long hiatus. I had basically been making good progress from when I first got the game to my first eye surgery back in March of 2011. It has been fun watching you play the earlier parts of the game. I probably won't get to FFXIII for a few years, but I think I will eventually give it a go as I'm curious and it sounds like it keeps the battles interesting.

I think you'll enjoy it. A lot of complaints stem from the linearity and the pacing; I actually think they fit well with the theme of the game. As someone who doesn't do a lot of action gaming (I'm primarily RPGs, puzzles/logic, and music) I appreciated the gradual introduction of the Pardigm system. Being eased into it rather than having large parts of it thrust at me helped, and it made me appreciate the new skills even more once they were introduced. By contrast, I never really felt like I understood FF12's Gambit system; even at the end, I kept on manually controlling my characters to get them to do what I really wanted rather than leaving it to the AI.
