Lovely story! Made me cry for a bit there, but I'm a sucker for angst with a happy ending, so I'm very happy now. *g*

Most of the authors I know appreciate constructive criticism, so I'd like to offer a few comments in that spirit--constructively, respectfully, and not intended to offend you personally ( ... )

Oh, I appreciate well-intentioned crit as much as anyone, but a couple of points in response...

1. If you disliked it and my writing ability so much, why continue reading?

2. If you're going to attempt to improve the masses writing, why not be bold enough to do so under your name, rather than hiding behind anonymous?

I spotted this story and bookmarked it to read AGES ago... possibly saw it on one of the Alan/Billy or smallfandomfest comms. I found the bookmark while doing a 'spring clean'.

Lovely story... so sad at first, with each of them not realizing how much they were hurting each other - and themselves in the process! Typical men in that way, avoiding talking about emotions. Sad it took almost losing Billy a second time for Alan to realize he was letting his fear become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

I do love angst with a happy ending, so thank you for this story :)

On an extra note:

I saw the previous comment. I never trust people who 'offer a few comments with respect' and then go on to list ONLY what they personally disliked, and in great detail. Yes, there was a some validity to their points BUT there was also SO MUCH to love about the story. Hopefully their mean-spirited comment didn't put you off writing!
