Say something nice

Anyway, Death in Heaven. This has taken me ages to write, rambles terribly, and omits a lot of interesting points. But I need to get it down, and may edit it later if I have any better ideas.

Lovely review. I haven't got any helpful thoughts on what Missy was planning for Clara, but I thoroughly enjoyed the episode, even the CyberBrigadier.

Perhaps Missy has a whole sheaf of plans, and just follows whichever seems to be working at the time... Giving the Doctor an army isn't a spur-of-the-moment idea, because she mentions her surprise gift just before they abandon the plane. But I would like to see where she thought she was going with Clara, and why her rather than anyone else.

A very interesting review. I'd noticed myself that at one point Missy was apparently happy to see the Doctor fall to his death and shortly afterwards was offering him the chance to be ruler of the universe, but couldn't come up with a better explanation than that it was part of her being insane.

I noticed that the first two letters of Osgood's surname are the same as Clara Oswald's. With any other writer I'd think that it was just a coincidence, but with Steven Moffat I can't help wondering if it's significant in some way. I can't see how, though.

I don't think there's a connection, though no doubt Moffat could put one in if he wanted (eg the Osgoods are descended from one of the Clara fragments). But when Osgood first appeared in The Day of the Doctor, there were a lot of satisfied noises from informed fans, so eventually I looked it up and was reminded that there was a previous Osgood who worked for UNIT in The Daemons. He had similar glasses, so it's generally assumed that they're another UNIT dynasty, like the Lethbridge-Stewarts.

Thanks. That's a nice thought.
