I haven't been talking about this year's Doctor Who here, only in comments elsewhere; no particular reason, I've enjoyed most of it apart from The One We Won't Talk About. But the finale (until Christmas) has prompted me to say something.

This story developed from two things: my dissatisfaction seven months ago with the ending of Last Christmas - because if the Doctor can't tell how old Clara is, why wouldn't he ask her to come with him anyway? - and a recent conversation with kerravonsen about Clara's lying. Another mostly illustrated weekend report. I was in Ely briefly yesterday, and passed through a belt of Morris People on my way to the station, part of Ely Folk Festival. I was particularly taken with this group, who are apparently Hemlock Morris from Bedfordshire.

Fanfic came up in Radio Four's Front Row tonight (about twenty minutes into the programme), in connection with Diana Souhami's novel Gwendolen which reimagines George Eliot's Daniel Deronda from the heroine's point of view.
