Every once in a while, I have these moments where I go, "Hey, I'm someone's mom. Cool!"

These moments are inevitably followed by a moment of panic where I go, "Crap, I'm someone's mom!" and wonder what on earth I've gotten myself into ( Read more... )

As long as you are doing your level best to keep your conscience clear and do the best you can with the knowlege and goods you have, then even when you have that 20-20 hindsight and know there could have been a better way, you will know that you did the best you could.

Besides, kids are amazingly sturdy, and when you think about it, don't you basically like yourself and who you've become? Your parents made their own mistakes, but you turned out okay. So will he.

Act with love, and let God take care of the rest. Chances that the people around you that know and love you will be saying "Child Raising ur doin it wrong!" are pretty darn small. (There is a certain mass of folks out there who ALWAYS think they know how to raise your kid better than you do, but that's because they are meddling busybodies with no true knowledge of the circumstances and situation, and they can be disregarded out of hand!)

Hope your Mama feels better soon.

We'll be praying for your mother.

Small Child is eight ("and three quarters!"), and I am constantly wondering which of my decisions (or failures to decide, or act, or provide enrichment, or whatever) will result in years of therapy.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (St. Paul, to the Romans)

Candle will be lit.

I still feel weird to be a mom, and I have one approaching thirty!

Prayers for your mother's swift recovery.

IME as an experienced observer, the parents who screw their kids up the worst are the ones who never think/worry/care/pray about what you're thinking/worrying/caring/praying about. For those parents, it's all about them.*sigh*

This is obviously not the case with you. So FWIW, I think you'll all be okay.
