Oh that's brilliant! Do they still have sandwiches there?

1. Spent yesterday and this morning in bed with the Worst Headache I Have Ever Had and the fallout of said Headache. Mother-in-law said it sounded like a migraine (apparently you can get those from pregnancy--huzzah for pregnancy!) even though I wasn't light or sound sensitive. *shrug* Whatever it was, I just hope it doesn't happen again. I still think my movie theater must have shown me a different Star Trek movie than what the rest of fandom appears to be watching.

On the headache note: I had a family friend once teach me an accupuncture trick her doctor-sister taught her when she was getting headaches while pregnant, and it sometimes works for me to tame headaches. Pinch the webbing between your thumb and forefinger (I tend to do right hand - not sure if that matters) for a while. I have no idea if I imagine it works or if it actually does something, but sometimes it seems to help when I can't get at any drugs.

Yay happy mom's day!

I'm sorry, I know how you feel: my theater totally showed a different version of Pan's Labyrinth than everyone else got. I was so disappointed and everyone else adored it. *pouts*

It seems like I remember someone showing me that headache trick before, but I was remembering it wrong and thinking it was the center of the palm that you were supposed to squeeze. *makes note of correct version*

I think Pan's Labyrinth was really, really good--but I'd never say I adored it! Parts were quite brutal. I enjoyed it at an aesthetic level, but it hurt to watch. Going in thinking that something is good can be a problem, too: everyone said Something About Mary was the funniest thing they'd ever seen, even people who felt guilty for enjoying something so gross, so finally BH and I saw it. We just sat there kind of going, "Huh? That's really not funny" and "Okay, that's kind of funny, but...."

You're not just going to be a mommy--you're already there! Why do you think you're suffering so much? That Baby is getting everything he needs from you!

Yeah, I think I probably suffered from overhype, there. I went expecting to LOVE it and...really didn't. At all. *shrug*

True! *laughs* Baby is already being a pain in the butt and we haven't even gotten to the part where he needs diapers, yet!

I enjoyed the ST movie and I'm glad you did, too. It had some serious science and other issues but I try not to think about that too much and just let myself bask in the fact that there is a shiny new ST out there and maybe we'll get more.

Though why they couldn't use contacts so young Kirk's eyes were the proper hazel and Bones' eyes the proper blue, I cannot fathom.

I hope you feel better soon!

6. Dear Baby:

Dreams involving yourself and scary surgical procedures are not something I need right now, thank you. Also, in the dream in question, you were a girl. Maybe you could talk to my subconscious and get those two points straightened out?

Thanks,

Mommy

the subconscious is weird. i often dream of having a baby boy & i have no interest in reproducing. i wonder if it's something form another life

My condolences on the pregnancy headache. I think the part that sucks the most about them is that you can only take %&*$ing Tylenol. Which I found did absolutely nothing.

Happy Belated Mother's Day!

Re: #6. Aren't pregnancy hormones marvelous for screwing with your psyche dreams?

And by the way, congrats on your pregnancy. I'm not sure where I've been, but this is the first I've heard of it, so YAY! I know, I know. Your life is now complete...

The Tylenol did seem to help a little bit, though it was mostly useful in managing the fallout pain of scrunched-up neck and shoulder muscles once the actual migraine had gone away.

Truly, the hormones, they are messing with me on so many levels. I watched "Little Women" a few weeks ago? I had already cried four times by the time I even got to the part where Beth dies. O_O

Hey, at least you had a legitimately sad movie to cry over. I was bawling over Kleenex commercials. The type that normally make me roll my eyes and gag.

I'd suggest writing a catharsis fic or two during the pregnancy, but that'd be harder for a Fantabulous Queen of Gen such as yourself to pull off. Maybe wait for a more violent mood swing and write some butt-kicking or whumpage or a Jack-and-Daniel pissiness contest instead.

Notice my solutions are for you to write something? Completely selfless of me, no?

Hee! I actually have worked on a few things, but the brain, she is so clogged with tired. I'm hoping I'll be able to write something for Fig's Gen Fic Day on Monday, but...we shall see. Most of the fic I've managed to write has been short little pieces of comfort fic. The muse must be taking this time to get her mother hen on.
