Still in book news, am about a third of the way through Deep Wizardry, which is fighting me. I can't figure out why I can't seem to get into this book, there's nothing wrong with it. I just...don't care that much. I loved the first book in the series! Why can't I love this one? Most distressing.
Because the story doesn't really get compelling until about halfway through, probably. Keep going.
It took me a while to get through Master and Commander. Those books just don't bear reading quickly, I think.
I hope to watch SPN online, if all goes to plan. I'm told that the CW puts up the eps on their site sometime during the weekend after they air, although I've also heard that they are not always very reliable about keeping to this schedule. We shall see. With luck I'll only have to be wary of spoilers on Fridays, and then I can join in the squee on weekends.
Creedence: Serious rock business. (I think the best genre to slot them into would be 'swamp rock') I should dig up and post that YouTube video where most of the group attended their 25th high school reunion in El Cerrito and played as the house band. BEST. REUNION. EVAR.
Also, I had no idea what 95% of the lyrics of "Down on the Corner" were until I karakoke'd it at a party.
I can't believe you don't love Deep Wizardry! That is by far my favorite of that whole series. I read the first one because I was a librarian and felt I should keep fairly current with as many books for readers of all ages that I could. I liked it fine, nothing super-duper. But Deep Wizardry--that was her very best one, I thought, and I think now there are 6 of them (maybe more--I'm not a librarian anymore, I haven't kept up).
>So You Want to be a Wizard >Deep Wizardry >High Wizardry >A Wizard Abroad (my least fav) >(can't remember the title of this one!) >A Wizard Alone (this and the previous might be swapped in order) >Wizards at War
Hmmm. I think it's at 7 right now. Must check Out of Ambit, though....
#5 is The Wizard's Dilemma. There's one called Wizard's Holiday after A Wizard Alone, so Wizards at War is actually eighth. A Wizard of Mars will be #9.
(I did have to look this up. TWD I remembered, and I thought I recalled Wizard's Holiday but then thought maybe I was mixing up a phrase from another book's blurb or something.)
I didn't like High Wizardry too much because it was all about computers (not my thing!) and was Nita's little sister, rather than her, also.
Wizard's Dilemma is followed by Wizard Alone (both full of angst, I won't say why for those not that far in the series). Then that's when I quit being a librarian and lost track of them.
Quilting is the best! It's fun, it's easy and I do love the final product. Can't wait to see the pictures. ;)
The only story written by Flannery O'Conner that I've had to read was "A Good Man is Hard to Find". I've taken two different Lit classes and this story was required reading for both. The dang story gave me nightmares, I tell ya. lol
Uglies is fun! I never cared enough to read the 3rd (though I did check online for the resolution of one plotline), but the first two were fast, interesting fun.

(I have not read more Connie Willis yet. Am stuck in Post Captain, still, which is a lovely read but very long.)
Hey SPN starts Thursday. Will you be watching online? Or must I keep very, very mum around you for a few weeks?
