Cosmetics and SG-1 (less-than-earthshattering thoughts concerning lipstick)

I am beginning to notice a trend in my efforts to write fanfic. I can either write short, silly, plotless banter or I can write longer, plotty fic that is filled to the brim with maudlin angst. For some reason that eludes my understanding, I cannot seem to write fic that contains both plot and humor, and this angers me. *pouts ( Read more... )

And then I realized that Carter really does run a high risk of running into an old boyfriend, even and especially when she's offworld. So maybe the effort she puts into her morning toilette isn't entirely wasted, after all.

It's funny because it's true!

I know nothing about SG-1, but today my hair looks spectacular, and I haven't seen anyone I know beyond my few office co-workers. Whereas any day that it looks like the cat slept in it, everyone and their next-door neighbor will come into my office. Or I'll have back-to-back meetings with outside vendors.

So I'm with your mom on this one.

Yeah, I only seem to run into friends I haven't seen in a long time when I'm wearing the last items of clean clothing that were left before laundry day and have put my hair in a bandanna because I just couldn't be bothered to style it. So Mom would seem to be on to something.

Also the fact she never knows when she'll pick up a new boyfriend off-world (and kill them...).

Also, for a plot-canon-boring conjecture, perhaps it was one of the things she picked up from her mother before she died and she's been unconsciously holding it as a sort of personal memorial.
