By Royal Proclamation, the following Christmas Carols have been classified as "overused", "overly schmaltzy" or "just plain annoying" by the Empress of Penguins:

All I Want For Christmas is My Two front Teeth
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause
Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer
Anything by a Boy Band
ETA: Santa Baby ( ( Read more... )

By Anarchist Decree (which is useless as nobody ever listens to it), the following are to be inserted in every single holiday playlist in all the twenty-eight known galaxies:

Christmas at Ground Zero
The Night Santa Went Crazy

Thank you.

Also "Wizards in Winter" by the Trans Siberian Orchestra!

I so love the Weird Al song. That is how holiday time makes me feel.

Picture it. Christmas, Nineteen-Seventy something. Suffolk, Virginia. I was, in fact, missing my two front teeth. What did the children’s choir director want us to sing in front of the entire Church? Yeah.

Anyone caught singing “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth” should be shot on sight and tried for treason later.

P.S. Love the icon.

I'm with you on that. No radio Christmas music for me, except maybe the classical stations or something.

Also, I wouldn't mind a few more renditions of some Chipmunk carols, because really, nothing makes me laugh quite as quickly as squeaky voices (plus I get all nostalgic).

I once took the Chipmunk Carol and slowed it down to normal. Nothing like hearing three normal guy voices en-un-ci-ate ve-ry care-ful-ly about their wishes for a Hula Hoop to a VERY DEEP SLOW Dave Seville.

Of course, hearing what they're all arguing over each other at the end was fun. "Gee! I guess we should be able to sing it again if we want to!"

* Special dispensations are available for recordings by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby or Louis Armstrong.

You have thus convinced me to pick up the Christmas CD I found at Kmart that was all Sinatra, Crosby, and Armstrong.

Because you can never go wrong with them.

It's true: they make even the most cheese-oid songs worth listening to.

Oh, Brian Setzer. I got an album of his for me for one of my in-laws this year for Christmas. *loves*
