Okay, so the office Christmas Holiday party this year is cocktails and dinner. Which brings up the question of what one wears to cocktails and dinner. I'm guessing that my own fashion sense is not a good thing to go with in this instance because I distinctly remember having the following conversation with my sister while shopping ( Read more... )

lj fairy, random interludes, green tea

I'm just half-surprised Grace Kelly didn't suddenly, out of sheer necessity, come to life out of your icon, sit you down and help you decide on what to wear. :-D

You know, I'm kind of disappointed that this didn't happen, myself.

She described the event as "a country Christmas" but added that we couldn't wear jeans.

That'll make matching the chaps a little tough.

*is consumed with giggles*

Oh, I so want to show up in chaps, now! And when they ask me where the back half of my pants are, I'll say it's not my fault, they told me I couldn't wear jeans! Hee!

Silly sillies: Of course not jeans. It's the country.

What she wants is overalls.

Maybe with a pony embroidered on the front bib?

I think I like your sister :o]
That sounds like a conversation myself and my brother would have, albeit a guy's version, where he is you and I am GTL.
*appalled silence* LOL! Let her know another good one is for her to do a hand to forehead and cry "Oh the humanity!" I'm sure she needs a good supply of dramatic exclamations when dealing with you :o] Although you probably take her advice on occassion, unlike my brother who I fear is beyond fashion redemption…

One of GT's favorites:

Me: Can I wear these together?

GT: Well yes, you can, in that there is no law against it, though there should be.

If you do find yourself needing a cocktail dress for some future occasion, I'd suggest St. Vincent De Paul or Goodwill. It's farly easy to find dressy clothes at both, they really cheap, and they money all goes towards good stuff. Pretty much all my clothes that don't come from garage sales or rummage sales come from St. Vinnie's, and it's great!
