~ I am changing my birthday, I think. I don't know what it is, but it feels like September/October is just, like, ONE LONG BIRTHDAY PARTY. (Speaking of, happy birthday, calloocallay!) So, inevitably, I get to my actual birthday, and I'm asleep or hungover or something. Anyway, so I'm sick now, probably as a result of too little sleep and too much ( Read more... )

The logical- and ethical- issues in CoE are indeed wobbly as all get out, although I did think that the control of tone and story flow were miles above the first two series. I dunno; how many people watch Torchwood strictly for a smoothly told, evenly flowing narrative stream? :) MD... yeah; no urge to see it, based on what I've heard.

Feel better!

Hahahahaha. Yeah, no one, probably, and if they do, they are very disappointed. HOWEVER, I loved S1 & S2 for the mad jumble of potentiality that I thought they were; that they were an island of misfit toys, not so different from my own social circle, except with a super secret lair and gadgets and a pterodactyl; that there was an amazing message about how complicated life and love are...

and then with CoE, it felt like a run-of-the-mill "gritty" political sf epic, so very, very standard and trope-y, that someone decided to stick the Torchwood label on in hopes that it would sell better. So all of the action was observed by Torchwood -- they watched most of the important stuff without doing anything, and it made no sense in the larger context of the Whoniverse ( ... )

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like Miracle Day. I feel so alone in all the squee. It's not that I hated it or anything; it was just really, really boring. Comparatively speaking, CoE was better in that it actually elicted some type of emotional response from me. Although, I think the format (all in one week) helped with that.

When does all this new TV start? I never know when things are actually on the television. I'm never home to watch it, anyway :(

What's hilarious to me about your comment about TW is that I thought the wheels started wobbling enough during what I thought was the awfulness of End of Time for me to stop watching stuff written by RTD altogether!

Oh man, I thought the End of Time was terrible too -- but I kept watching because... because... yeah, I got nothing.

OMG I forgot about Misfits! Eeeep!

I don't even know what Sera said at Comic Con, but yeah... I am so over SPN -- it's like cannibalizing itself in a serious way.

I have not seen the last three episodes yet, but episode 7 is our show again, and should be watched. The rest of it, yeah.

I was just going to suggest reading a 2 paragraph plot synopsis and then tuning in for episode 7...but you beat me to it...

Episode 7 is great, as I told you, but don't get your hopes up too much. The Jack stuff is awesome, but the episode doesn't stick the dismount.

What's really annoying about ep 7 is that you think, "HEY! You can still write this stuff, you're just choosing not to so you can write some sophomoric shite about a child rapist/killer becoming a celebrity in your BRAVE NEW WORLD!! (like they aren't already??). Earth to RTD: Natural Born Killers did this in the 90's!

The plotting in the end of MD is just so horrible it makes Supernatural look finely crafted.

And you WEREN'T the only person to hate CoE. I watched that shit TWICE for you, if you remember...! I liked the first few eps of CoE, when it looked like it was setting the stage for awesome Torchwood machinations. But it wasn't. Oy.

And Doctor Who has been great, you're so right about Moff not knowing emotional interaction at ALL. That's why the Amy/Rory/Doctor stuff is so flat.
