stuff 'n' things (mostly tv)

~ I am changing my birthday, I think. I don't know what it is, but it feels like September/October is just, like, ONE LONG BIRTHDAY PARTY. (Speaking of, happy birthday, calloocallay!) So, inevitably, I get to my actual birthday, and I'm asleep or hungover or something. Anyway, so I'm sick now, probably as a result of too little sleep and too much indiscriminate kissing while drunk. Which is annoying, because OMG school and so much work, jesus.

~ Torchwood. Yeah, I never finished it. I probably will, one of these days, cos it's taking a lot of room on my dvr, but I thought the half of it I did see was uniformly terrible. It's kind of funny to me to read all these reviews about how CoE was so awesome, and why the wheels came off the wagon in MD, and I'm all... yeah. Being, I think, the only person in the world who thought that CoE was bad because it was structurally and narratively and world-buildingly flawed, I'm just, like, baby, those wheels were loosened a long time ago. And you didn't tighten them, no.

~ Doctor Who. Hey, I'm actually really liking this season! I wish we'd come straight here to S6 after "The Eleventh Hour," and possibly the Vampire ep and the Van Gogh ep, but I'll take it. Still think that emotional realism is not The Moff's strong suit (Doesn't it seem like Amy & Rory should be more, I don't know, upset about how things are going?), and there's something weird about the season long pacing, but other than that, I'm really enjoying it. I liked the Doctor and his coldness from "The Girl Who Waited" -- he's a lying liar who lies, and I love it -- and in Night Terrors, I was all, "yeah, baby, now that's how you do the power of heart, and have it make sense." So good there.

~ Vampire Diaries. OMG new episode TOMORROW. I have nothing else to say about this, but eeep. God, I love this show so much.

~ Downton Abbey. NEW EPISODE THIS WEEKEND. I'm so excited!

~ tv I'll be tuning in for this fall, and probably dropping most of, because it will suck: Terra Nova; Once Upon a Time; Grimm; Revenge; The Secret Circle (yeah, I know, but VD looked terrible too, initially!); Pan Am.

~ tv that I will miss: Suits! White Collar (my favorite season yet, I think!

~ tv that I am really close to giving up on: Supernatural. I mean, have you seen those episode titles??? Yeah.

~ cartoons: Thundercats is awesome. And I am really looking forward to a new season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
