The Thor still is kind of awesome, I'm very curious to see that movie when it comes out. Brannagh's a director that I usually like but its Marvel so I don't know.

I was watching a clip of him discussing Thor and talking about Chris Hemsworth, and he was saying how he made Chris stand around and do things that Thor actually does in the comics, like stand there and carry two men, carry three men, carry them all upstairs, etc., in other words emphasizing things that make Thor Thor strengthwise.

Branagh is a brainy fellow - and I think, I pray, I hope that he'll get it right.

What's funny about the Asgardian costumes is that they look a lot more like what I'd expect to see on New Genesis.

...and given that Kirby created the New Gods, that's not surprising to me. I agree, they have that vibe. I like how despite Odin's mighty Kirby chestplate, it looks like he has a braided leather cloak.

Wow, I had NOT seen that. Okay. Let me breathe here. I'd lost track of the fact that Ryan Reynolds had been definitively cast.

I actually like the mask - although you're of course right that it doesn't obscure his face, it's more symbolic to me than anything else - the GL uniform is an honor guard thing to me, and I've always interpreted the masks partially as a way to make each of them recognizable as GLs and as an espirit d'corps thing.

The sinewy packaging elswhere on the costume is unnecessary, but dammit, he LOOKS LIKE A GL. I can't help it, but he does. I agree that all the budget should be blown on power constructs and the other Lanterns. Where is Tomar-Re?
