Tornadoes? Not in my backyard! Plus gratuitous picspams

Jan 20, 2010 15:55

The National Weather Service just issued tornado warnings for Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. (For the geographically impaired, that's a little too close to SF to be comfortable.) It's been hailing and raining here like the end of days, but TORNADOES? That's supposed to happen in Tornado Alley, not in our temblor-stricken Earthquakes-Only ( Read more... )

Tornadoes?!?! Please, no! If just to prevent the thousands of horrible "Friend of Dorothy" jokes that would get heard at open mike nights around the country for a year afterwards!

Hey, did you see this?! kali921 January 21 2010, 01:03:34 UTC
Yes, TORNADOES, although they seem to have calmed down now. Now it's just pouring. The first stand-up to utter a friend of Dorothy joke is gonna get my boot in his/her/hir/zie's heinie. Because a tornado here would likely dump us in Fresno rather than Oz, and Fresno 'tis nowhere that anyone sane wants to be.

Hey, did you see the OTHER video those two guys did?! (Re: your second-to-last post.)

WOW.

I used to like tornado weather until I moved into a trailer. Enjoy the storm, if at all possible. It's the best way to get past it.

We can't enjoy the storm because our infrastructure crumbles at the slightest poking. Floods, mudslides (one year in the eighties, about a dozen houses in SF slid off their moorings and down steep hills), calamity, power outages, WOE.

I guess I'm just used to weird weather. I live in Kentucky, after all. Today, for instance, the temperature got up high enough that I considered a tank top, then chilled down and decided to rain and fog, followed by a touch of ice. Wonky weather seems to be our specialty. When I lived down in the house, I got used to laying back and relaxing during tornado weather because the rain on the roof sounded soothing and the winds howling around the corners were just neat. Now that I'm up here in a trailer and the damn thing rocks in a stiff wind, I've grown a phobia, and I hate it.

I'm sorry. Any anxiety disorder is torture. I don't understand the evolutionary function of anxiety - and since I'm privy to a few anxiety-based disorders myself, I HATE it, and I hate phobias just as much. It's hard.

oh, hawks.

So is the repulsive Kendra/Roy thing finally over? I haven't read it at all.

Man, I thought I had it bad with the mudslides and flood warnings down here in LA

And the constant rain, of course.

The repulsive Roy/Kendra thing is now over - technically, at least - because Kendra was impaled and then turned into a Black Lantern.

Wanda's original costume was a red leotard thing over a pink bodysuit with red boots, cape, and her red headdress - how do you derive Santana's costume to be thus? What am I missing? :-)

Muscles on women are definitely sexy. But this is clearly bodybuilding territory, where all fat has been stripped away in that b&w piece of art. And her hips are non-existent.

That storm system under which we now all suffer was bequeathed to us by Los Angeles. Thanks, Hellay. Thanks.

Carter already runs around half naked. So it's like every little bit more that we get to see of him makes it almost exponentially more sexy. Oddly, the reverse also works - there's a sequence in Johns' JSA run that had him working at one of his forges (conveniently situated in the JSA basement), where he's wearing a big leather apron and thus has technically more of himself covered, and he's nothing but sex in those panels, with muscles straining, sweat running down his back, etc.
