Absurdism reigns supreme in my hard drive

Has anyone ever had the problem of I-Hate-Keyloggers conflicting with Spy Sweeper and causing Spy Sweeper to give a false positive for a Trojan virus? I installed I-Hate-Keyloggers yesterday and during my daily Spy Sweeper scan, Spy Sweeper found what it calls a trojan in pagefile.sys. Advice? I've run Ad Aware and Ewido, and neither of them ( Read more... )

Even my jaded heart has been really thrown by some of the viciously clueless things I'm seeing written in this cultural appropriation discussion. I know that stupidity extends far beyond fandom, believe you me. Or rather, I think it's the other way around; in the great bell curve of human stupidity, fandom has its rightful place, but only reflects the larger society when it comes to beliefs and opinions about cultural relativism, cultural appropriation, and racial politics. And flat out racism.

I think that might be whatsherface... Moon... something. Whomever Wolvie was sweet with during the Weapon X thing.

I loved BSG. But I'm also one of those 'Ron Moore and co can't do wrong' people.

You don't see the inherent problems in offing Dee and reducing Roslin to a weeping ball of indecision? You don't see the trend that's been blatantly evident over the last season and a half with the female characters? I used to cut Ron Moore an absurd amount of slack given how brightly beautiful much of the show used to be, but I'm losing faith. Sadly.

If it was just those characters falling apart, yeah. But almost every single character is falling apart because of Earth being a nuked planet.

Yes, it's true that lots of other characters are falling apart. But the male ones aren't getting killed off.

Yay, my post has reinforced your rightful place on the continuum of sexual identity!

So what's your theory about the Cylonpocalypse on Earth, dear? I keep being frightened that Ron Moore is leading us up to a GIGANTIC letdown.

Hee. Yes.

Oh, man. See, I think Ron really is going to go the path of "everyone's a Cylon". I think it's been coming since about the end of season three, when they made four people who were random into Special Cylons.

BUT. That said, I still love that Earth was Cylonulated, and that there are apparently tests for cylonity.

Also, I wonder if the 13th tribe worshiped the One True God or a multitude of Gods or if they're more, y'know, yin-yang/Buddha/karma-related, what with the resurrection stuff.

Sadly, I'm expecting to get very little explained as Ron and Co give us more women dying and men being Very Sad about them, and/or saying horrible things about their sexual drives.

I much prefer the polytheist mishmash of the humans on BSG rather than the fanatic monotheism of the Cylons. Because there's already been too many heavy-handed metaphors about fanaticism and monotheism being connected to genocide on BSG. I'm no fan of monotheism and fanaticism (obviously), particularly when the two are combined into the same belief system, but in a meta sense it's been glaringly apparent, even with the often sophisticated rendering. But I can usually easily disengage my awareness of that while watching BSG because the show's been so good at times that it short circuits that simultaneous running monologue in my brain that picks apart most TV shows while I watch them.

It's "interesting" because it's three quarters of the way unzipped, hon. Me, I like the alien hand groping her. SURPRISE FONDLAGE!

Yeah, I was scrolling down through this entry and thought it was just going to be hot stills because I saw the Wolverine one, and then I was 1/3rd down the Gillian Anderson one and thought "Hot!", then I scrolled down the rest and thought "wait octopi/Gillian Anderson otp?"
