You know, sometimes I feel mildly bad about cooking my food alive. But only mildly.

Have you heard about that sushi place in CA where they kill the fish right before serving it to you? It's so fresh that the muscles are still twitching slightly when the food gets to you.

Mmmmm freshly killed :-)

I've seen that with prawns and lobsters, and then they use the rest of the critter as garnish, and it is still moving, and still alive without its tail, so basically it watches you as you eat it.

I saw this great episode of america's test kitchen where they made lobsters on the grill, and they cut them in half while they were still alive... I'm not squeemish about pretty much any food, but I'm really not sure I could bring myself to cut a live lobster clean in half. steaming it is one thing...

Maybe I could... I just don't know.

Yeah, the lobster kept moving for quite a while after being cut in half.

Yeah, at restaurants they run a skewer clean through them up their tail and out the heads before steaming or grilling to keep their tails from curling under, which makes them easier to plate and eat. They, of course, do this while they are alive. the mOmster is pretty sure when she dies she is going to some sort of special corner of hell run by lobsters armed with skewers and boiling liquids.
