I managed to buy one of the larger railroad signal bungalows I've ever seen, at a surplus auction, for $470 plus fees. That's a pretty good price for an 8x10 shed, especially one that's extremely well made and bullet-resistant. It's nearly twice the size of my other RR signal bungalows, so I'm chuffed to have landed it. My trailer's hydraulic ( Read more... )

It looks like my current route is going to take me around the lake from Chicago up towards Grand Haven (right past Benton Harbor, guess I'm touring the suck!), then over to Northville, then south to Ann Arbor on my way to Fort Wayne. How close is that to your suburb?

I'm trying to make my escape from here, likely tonight, since the snow is supposed to finally hit with a vengeance this weekend. While the plains east of the Rockies aren't supposed to get much, some areas in the mountains are supposed to get 2 feet.

The cold is tolerable because I travel with 2 moderately large dogs, who don't have any concept of personal space. I just really don't want to deal with snow. It's only fun to drive in when a trailer isn't part of the mix.

Well, you'll also go through/near Holland, plus Grand Haven, Spring Lake... all are really nice. Also probably near Saugatuck which is the established "rainbow flag" town of Michigan's west coast, so it's not all bad. ;-)

I just pinged you with my number so feel free to keep me posted. If everything goes well, it would be great to say hi, but if weather/jobs get in the way I totally understand.
