Extra cheese. No matter what kind of a toppings mood I am in, extra cheese always hits the spot. ^^

It's true that extra cheese is pretty fabulous! Do you always get mozzarella? Or do you sometimes add cheddar or feta?

I always get cheesy breadsticks (if available), so this might sound sacrilegious, but extra cheese might make the meal too cheesy.

This question led to a heated discussion over the original layer of cheese's right to be claimed as a topping.

Seriously, we were debating for over fifteen minutes.

I now want to know what decision was reached! Is it a topping? Is it not?

He was saying it was the ultimate topping because it comes on every pizza.

I said it comes on every pizza because it is an necessary component of pizza; that it is not pizza without the cheese.

Then he brought up the term 'extra cheese', which I agreed was a topping. However, he took that opportunity to say that Extra implies that whatever Extra is referring to means it is a topping.

I argued that when a store offers a one topping pizza for sale, you don't just get a cheese pizza. Cheese pizza is the base.

He said that's because cheese is the superior topping. It is on every pizza.

It is superior, bbecause it is a part of what makes pizza and pizza, but it is not a topping. Next time I order you a pizza, I will make sure just to get the bread, sauce, and pepperoni.

In the end, we conceded, deciding we were both being a little too extreme about the question lol.

His is pepperoni, mine is mushroom. :]
