Iiii'm pretty sure I've never posted here before. And not really sure what's making me do it now... but I am. :3 A little background: I wrote this back when the Poe challenge was going on, because I like Poe immensely and it just spurred my writing bug. Anyway, I decided to do drabbles based on the whole of a poem instead of just a phrase taken from one. And this is how the first one turned out...

Indicative Foolishness

It was terribly unkind of you to ply me with this affliction. That cursed eye of yours has haunted me one abandoned night too many. Just the thought of it, watching me, memorizing me, causes my blood to boil in a way it shouldn’t. I’m sure you understand I had to, had to, smother all of the breaths that tied us together. I couldn’t bear that eye or the heart once-beating only for me (or so you said) any longer. The never-ending uncertainty was too defeating. You understand. Even as I sit dismembering the selective memories of you and cunningly hiding them beneath the floorboards and deep within my rib cage, I hear it. Like a choked watch, it ticks on (although memories of the eye have eased). Long after, I play at lightheartedness and hear it… thump-thump-thumping for all the world to hear! So loud now! Deafening! And as my eyes search wildly for any signs of your betrayal, I find that it is I, who is in fact, the betrayer.
