High stress situations suck

We have the 1st Circuit Court performing proceedings in our Courtroom this week.  It's a fairly big deal with lots of procedures and preparation.  One of our main jobs in preparing for the proceedings is making sure all the electronics are in order.  Particularly the microphones for the judges and attorneys.  So as a precaution we replaced any ( Read more... )

That sucks. But, on the good side, only one thing messed up and you were on the ball and got it fixed! YAY YOU! How many pieces of equipment were being used yesterday? If you hadn't done all of the pre-checks there would have been many more problems. I know it was stressful, but you done good :)

How many pieces of equipment? Three big video cameras (and tripods for each) and 4 laptops along with lots of other odds and ends (cables, extension cords, etc.). Also various other microphones and cables for the Courtroom stuff and a surprise event that was scheduled in our auditorium. Mostly stuff happening at the same time which required carrying multiple cameras/laptops/cables at once. Total pain. Today's a LITTLE better (mainly because the courtroom hasn't acted up since) but there's more simultaneous stuff happening today so it kind of offsets. My boss has meetings today on top of that so I'm doing most of the stuff and when the boss can help out you can tell he's pretty stressed because the meetings are keeping him away from the other work. Tomorrow looks to be more of the same although it should finally slow down on Thursday.
