According to the email I just got from Cat, Mr Cannon died.  I have no details other than it happened on Saturday morning (google is failing me), but if I find anything out, I shall post.  ETA (3:30pm): Cat says it was from pancreatic cancer, and that he went downhill very quickly after being diagnosed. (Mr Cannon was the physics teacher at ( Read more... )

Dude, none of my high schools are on Wikipedia. The first is mentioned in "List of Alberta schools" and the IB pages; the second redirects to "Edmonton Public Schools", which is hilarious because that's the page for the Protestant schools and it's actually a Catholic school; and the third isn't there at all (and it's the freaking cyber school!).

My condolences about Mr. Cannon :(

Oooh, so what did you suggest that Danger is considering??? Can you say? ;D

Something I would be curious about, and I should have thought about it earlier, is video over the sk. Is that just *too much*? When Sara went to Cingular/ATT to get her last phone, the salesman was talking about their 3G network and how mobile videophone wasn't far off.

Among other things I *suggested*:
-the ability to play video, from both video files and on the internet (like Youtube). Told her about the popularity of vlogs, and how it'd be cool to be able to watch those mobilely (is that a word? It is now).
-adding more and different alerts. The hearing people get all the cool ringtones and stuff, but most of those don't have different color patterns and/or vibrations, and having more variety in tactile and visual alerts would be nice.
-hearing aid compatibility.

I will not verify what they are doing though. :) If you have any other ideas though, let me know. She did mention that things that don't require hardware changes are easier, but that certainly doesn't mean we can't suggest them. I'm sure if enough people lobbied, they might consider adding in a feature.

I think some phones in Japan have mobile videophone capabilities. I can't remember where I heard that. I"m excited for when we get that over here!

Yes, I agree with the different alerts. Also, Sara's little thin LG phone buzzes MUCH more than my SK. If it is on vibrate and alarm, and sitting on a hard surface, it jumps around and makes so much noise that it will wake me up. The only other alarm that will is my screaming rooster alarm clock. Sometimes the SK is so soft I don't even notice it.

I'm surprised that it's not hearing aid compatible. Although, I am very happy with how loud it gets, even without being on speakerphone. It does seem very prone to interference, but that might be more due to my location that the sk itself.

Also, it would be nice to be able to have a functioning bluetooth (able to send files phone to phone), and to be able to set MP3s as ringtones.

I was surprised it wasn't HA compatible as well. I mean, they do gear a bunch of features for the deaf/hoh population, and they know that it's popular with us, so it seems silly not to take advantage of another feature that could boost their sales. *shrug* I agree on the loudness. I have troubles with the speakerphone (sound must be *right* in my ear for best results), but the loudness of the regular phone is good, to the extent that my friends can hear both sides of the conversation...

I'll mention the vibration, bluetooth, and mp3 things to them. I've heard other people mention the weakish vibration too. I don't always notice it vibrate if I'm walking around, but it if it's on a hard flat surface I always hear it if it's out of its case.

I heard from Amanda on Sunday :(

It's been a few days, so I wonder if the services have already passed? I found this at the Pioneer Press, but I haven't found this full Sunday notice they were talking about.

He was only 66?? Huh. I looked through the school and district websites and didn't see anything. Little surprised...he was there a long time, I would think they'd put *something* up.

Yeah, I looked through the school sites too. My dad said one of those little local papers (Sun Current? The Voice?) ran an article about him, but I think they threw it away before they even told me about it.

Huh...I don't think we get either of those papers, so I wouldn't be much help.

You're up early. Or maybe you never went to bed?
