Word Count: 653
Rating: G
Summary: This is their average morning.

It'll be morning. It will be a beautiful, sunny morning with the light shining through the window. But, it will be too

damn

cold.

Romania will mutter complaints under his breath as he gives up on the television and the computer and just heads upstairs, ignoring the soft chittering of faeries as they draw designs in the frost on the windows. They'll write names and they'll write insults, because that's what faeries do, especially the ones around Norway's house. But Romania will have learned to ignore them by then and they'll be no more impressive than the first birds of spring.

That isn't a good comparison; Romania does and shall still find the first creatures of spring to be some of the most amazing things ever.

He'll ignore this digression of thought and continue on his way.

Romania will find Norway still buried in the blankets in his bed at roughly ten a.m. The shades are drawn against the sun and the room will almost be stuffy, but not quite. Norway won't stir when Romania walks in. He never does.

The covers will be heavy but Romania will pull them aside anyway, dropping his coat on the floor and sliding between the blankets. He'll get as close to Norway as possible because Norway is cozy and warm from nearly nine hours of sleep. Romania will close his eyes and pull the blankets as far up as possible and wonder why he doesn't sleep more often.

That's when Norway will finally wake up. It'll be very sudden and Romania won't even notice until the man is saying, “What the fuck are you doing?”

Romania will open one eye and find Norway's solid blue ones staring back. He won't be mad, just confused and a little annoyed that someone's cold feet are suddenly invading his cocoon. “Your house is an icebox,” Romania will tell him, and burrow into the pillow.

"And you're the fish,” Norway will dryly reply. He'll move away, out of contact. “Why did you wake me up.”

“That was never my intention.”

"Well, it happened, so explain yourself before the house burns down.”

“If you burn the house down,” will be the reply, “I'll be warm.”

There will be a pause during which Romania knows Norway is completely done. Or, at least, as done as one can be when one has only just woken. “I'll get right on that, then.”

Even if Norway does burn down the house, Romania will be too comfortable in Norway's bed to care. He'll probably die. He'll wonder if Norway will care.

Probably, that's why Norway won't be mad at him for suddenly being in bed with limbs like icicles.

Norway will sit up. “I can't go back to sleep now, thanks.”

"Mmm.”

The bed will shift as Norway stands, and then something odd happens that Romania shall later realize is Norway tucking the blankets around him. “I'm getting coffee,” he'll say, in between cursing the temperature a little less strongly than Romania had. “Breakfast, too. There will be leftovers.”

That'll be Norway's way of saying, I'm going to make food for us both, you stay here and keep warm. Sleep, too. By this time, Romania will be adept at translating the man's words and intentions and actions, and no longer has second thoughts regarding his attitude.

Later, during breakfast, Romania will finally notice that Norway was much more compliant with being awoken than usual, and he'll wonder why.

He won't find out for weeks, but if he isn't learning something constantly, he'll be bored. So he won't complain. He'll just go downstairs for breakfast.
