I see nothing wrong with doing many favours for lawyers, and other people that may become helpful when you need a favour later on. I still hate asking for help, but there comes a time when everybody needs a hand.

I'll agree with you that there often comes a time where you CAN'T do it on your own. But if you endeavour to keep those few and far between you'll be much better off.

Now an interesting conundrum is that I love to help people out where I can. I don't seek anything in return. The way I avoid paradox in this is that I figure I owe the universe a debt, and I'm just repaying whatever anyone/anything has given to me.
