Nothing like some good old-fashioned POTC meta.

This is a very meta-ish (and spoiler-ish) post, centred around the end of the Will/Elizabeth arc in AWE. I've made a couple of posts in other forums about it and decided to make a big one here to collect everything I know - and hopefully it'll be helpful to some other people. I've included my own thoughts, and some quotes from Ted and Terry on ( Read more... )

meta, will/elizabeth, at world's end, potc

I cried three times when I saw it - once at the scene with the Governor, once when Norrington died, and then at the end when the couple parted. xD

No problem! ♥

I really enjoyed reading this! But am still SLIGHTLY confused about the post-credit scene.
So, When we see Will sailing up after the green flash, that means he is going to STAY? And not leave for another ten years?
I thought that the post credit scene was the one day he was ALLOWED to surface....no? xD
Anyway, thanks again for posting this : D

Yes, he's allowed to stay. According to the writers, his curse is broken. :D

Will already completed the "one day on land, ten years at sea" deal, by having that one afternoon with Elizabeth and then sailing for a decade. When he surfaces in the post-credit scene he finds Elizabeth has stayed true to him, and so the curse is lifted.

Jones only had multiple "one day on land, ten years at sea" occasions because Calypso abandoned him and he cut out his own heart in return. If Calypso had been true to him, Jones would have been freed the first time round too.

No problem! Glad you enjoyed it! ♥

Oh, I wonder who it was that Tia Dalma was unfaithful with all those years ago.... Jack? I'm betting that's why Jones hated Jack so much.

Someone needs to write that out. It would make a nice one-shot with Jack & Tia then Jones finding out.

Jack was definitely in there somewhere! In fact it wouldn't surprise me if there was more than one man... or woman. It's not in the nature of mythological goddesses to be picky. ;D

It's a pity they didn't have talk-shows back then, otherwise the three of them could have worked out their issues nicely. xD
